This ban [was lifted](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/listen-up-motherfuckers/817831) in 2018, also before my time here. That history is probably relevant to the reluctance to ban words outright today, inside and outside of the BBQ Pit. Someone else with more knowledge will have to fill you in on the details. Current rules do not acknowledge the concept of inherently-offending language. To the best of my knowledge you would not be warned for _mentioning_ an ethnic/sexual slur verbatim, provided _you_ are not _using_ it to offend.
