Something that surprises me is that an animation icon such as June Foray dies and there were only 22 posts (including this one) on it. I would have estimated that her death would have generated a LOT more posts om it (such as when Prince died) ---

Funny how there’s no mention there of what it was “she believed in”. Only [one source](https://books.google.com/books?id=6ffdBDDBUYsC&lpg=PA159&dq=%22june%20foray%22%20audited%20irs&pg=PA159#v=onepage&q=%22june%20foray%22%20audited%20irs&f=false) gives a reason, and it’s supposedly leading a boycott of meat because of high prices. Odd. ---

RIP Ms Foray. She was such a huge part of popular culture and added so much to so many of the things I loved as a child, and still appreciate as an adult. I never knew that she was on Nixon’s enemies list. Good for her! Regarding her meat boycott; I have vague memories of some sort of beef shortage or boycott in the 70s. I remember restaurants not having beef on the menu, and people being encouraged to have meatless days, but that’s not the subject of this thread. ---

When Mary’s shopping in the supermarket in the opening titles, she reluctantly decides to buy a package of “Hamburger II,” which I remember well (others who aren’t from Minnesota might not). It was a blend of ground beef and soy, which I believe had been served only in school cafeterias up until around 1974. This was apparently the only way to keep the price of beef down. Whether this was because of an actual meat shortage or just the high inflation of the era, I don’t know. Hamburger II didn’t taste _bad_, it just didn’t taste like 100% ground beef. I suspect it included inferior cuts of beef, too. ---

Her passing was mentioned on Howard Stern the other day. They had clips where she would record funny bits as Rocky the Squirrel with Howard as Bullwinkle. Stern said she never turned down a request even though some of the lines were raunchy. I guess she did this until she got yelled at for doing it, then told Howard she couldn’t do it anymore. I thought that was pretty cool of her. ---

She also had an interesting dubbed-in voice over part in the last episode of the original Twilight Zone series, [The Bewitchin’ Pool](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bewitchin%27_Pool) since the child actress’s voice in the outdoor scenes was too soft.
