I had one of those and they work, but a bit too well. You get the spot cleaned ok, but you also get a BIG clean spot that makes the rest of the carpet look like you spilled oil on it.

One car was totaled three weeks ago in an accident and the other car now needs repairs. While I was driving home in the loaner car this afternoon, a thick black spider crawled out onto the front edge of the driver’s side window on the inside. I tried to squish it when I got home, but it jumped a lot and crawled up further into the car. Now I am terrified to drive it again.

Actually I’m something of a “dad joke” connoisseur and _that_ took the edge off things. Thanks 🙂

Oh, And the instep of my left foot itches so badly I’m damn near drawing blood. There’s a tiny spot that had only become visible after hours of vigorous scratching. Bug bite maybe?

If not, was there another way he was supposed to know you were on vacation? Perhaps you work in a small place where everyone knows who is in or out, I don’t know.

I’ve received the string-of-emails things both on Saturday (between 3am and 6am my time) and with my notification on.

The Saturday thing was for tickets I’d opened the previous Monday.

I have actually considered setting the notification on for weekends, given that apparently my Indian colleagues can’t track that “people on the European shift do not work Saturdays”, but so far I’m considering it overkill. So far.

Remember last years adventures in grass cutting from the summer mini rants threads, by yours truly?

Yeah.

Yesterday, I mowed the back lawn perfectly, and strimmed the edges beautifully. No issues.

Today the lawnmower starts up fine, but skims over the front grass leaving it untouched, and the spool merrily sproings off of the strimmer everytime you switch it on.

I might just buy new ones this time.

Not a mini rant, but y’all have seen the preceding story, so…

We’ve been working hard at reintegration with the cats. They play beautifully in sight of one another, and eat next to one another with no issues. The next step would have been close supervision of the two of them out in the same space without constant distraction, but the other half has reached the end of his rope. One of the cats (likely mine) peed on the stair rail, and that was that.

My darling, beautiful, snuggly ginger tabby has a tentative play date at a new home. They have three dogs (two toy poodles and a silver lab) who have lived with cats before. They lost their cat to cancer four years ago, and are just getting to the point where they’re ready for another. The wife had been thinking kitten, but then she saw my post on the neighborhood FB yard sale page and wanted to help out. I don’t know how TabbyCat will do with dogs; hopefully she’ll let us know during the playdate.

I’ve been crying since yesterday. Slept terribly. Haven’t eaten. TabbyCat is snuggled up next to me right now, without a clue of what’s going to happen. I’m angry with the other cat, angry with my other half, angry with myself… just so angry and sad and heartbroken.

Also, fuck the guy who tried (and failed) to crack a joke on my ad for her.

Our 19yo senior cat sometimes poops outside the box. But we love him and put up with it. What’s a little pee among friends?

Would he kick a kid out for using crayons on the wall?

I’m going to assume you didn’t read my previous posts, and aren’t just behaving like a dick. The urination outside the box is not the primary issue. The attacking the other cat in the house, to the point where the other cat lived for weeks under the couch and ended up with bladder stones (hello $1000+ surgery), the having to keep the cats locked away from one another so one is always alone, the keeping the aggressor in a cage half the time, and other ongoing issues are the problems.

The urination outside the box is a symptom, an ongoing symptom of a much larger issue that we have literally been working on for over a year, to the tune of several thousand dollars. The behaviorist alone was $420. I’m not going to fault him for having a breaking point after my cat has been literally attacking his every chance she got.

If you just want to behave like a dick, please take it elsewhere.

Thank you, **flatlined.** I feel like I’ve done everything possible, even though part of me wishes there was _one more thing_ because she’s such an awesome cat. She’ll be living in our neighborhood, so maybe in time I can pop over to visit now and then.

We’re also hoping she gets along with dogs. We will of course take her back if that’s not the case, and find something else.

**bobkitty** , for what its worth…our cats had never been face to face with a dog before we adopted Buttercup. They weren’t sure about her at first and there were a few hisses and slaps but everyone got over it quickly. Lucky loves having a warm dog to snuggle up to and the rest of the felines pretty much ignore the hounds except at dinner time. For some reason, gooshy dog food is better than gooshy cat food, so we have to protect the hounds from the cats.

My rant: Our old senile cat tends to get lost and was starting to pee on the carpet. We had it pulled out and beautiful hardwood floors installed. Our waterbed is now an inch or so to the side of where it used to be. Not enough to disturb the fung shui of the room, but enough for me to walk into it at night.

No matter how hard I try, I cannot move that thing with my knee.

America, feel shame over your plot to keep the Russians out of the Rio Olympics. No one is fooled by your imperialist machinations.

\*"Zagorulko, a trainer for Anna Chicherova, an Olympic gold medalist who failed a retesting of a drugs sample from the 2008 Olympics two weeks ago, attacked Americans as “provocateurs” and said an Olympic ban would be unthinkable.

“Everything comes from the West,” Zagorulko shouted “Even our tomatoes come from the West. And what do you feed the tomatoes with, we don’t know!”\*

Loyal Russians, put down those capitalist beefsteaks and eat only genuine Russian tomatoes, like [Cosmonaut Volkov](http://www.seedlibrary.org/cosmonaut-volkov-tomato.html)!

This has been going on a lot lately and I don’t remember if I’ve already pitted it but it’s still bugging me:

IT teams that tell us (the business analysis team) to decide what the business requirements as as far as error messages and etcetera because we know what the business users need…

and after we do that then they pick them to death. “We don’t think that’s clear enough, can it say \<blah blah\> instead?” So our requirements review sessions largely consist of debates about whether the messages are understandable to the user or not.

Also I was admittedly sloppy at the beginning and was inconsistent in putting periods at the ends of the messages (apparently if our documents don’t show periods on the messages they can’t program the code to include periods  ) so I updated the document to have consistently punctuated messages. Then literally fifteen minutes later, they IM me to say the messages “look funny” and I should take the periods off. So I privately roll my eyes and do so. Today, over a week later and the QA lead says “um… don’t we need periods at the end of sentences?” kicking off a twenty minute discussion with the whole project team on the topic.
