Ok, so if we’ve proven that my spine is completely borked and my spinal cord is being impacted in several spots causing me persistent pain… Why the fuck aren’t you doctors throwing pain meds at me? Why is this being met with dead silence that implies something negative on my end but doesn’t outright say ‘no’ or give me a reason why? Fuck me, I outright said I have zero interest in any Oxy-related drugs, but there are other things, like Flexeril, that work great for me. ---

Thanks, **kaylasdad99** , **EmilyG** , and **AlienVessels**. We are using the trans-dermal hyperT medication for her; the compounding pharmacy didn’t have it ready until today. She is not easy to pill, but during the weird fungal infection from a few years ago, we have developed a reasonably good method for giving her liquids, so we’ve gone that route with the antibiotic instead. I’ve been reading about the radioactive iodine treatments. I think the vet is wanting to check how the trans-dermal works for a couple weeks before we go that route. There’s also a possibility, depending on the urine culture, that the vet will be able to give her an antibiotic shot that will stop us from having to dose her twice daily. At least there is a reason for her being more active, more talkative, and thirstier/hungrier than she used to be. Non-feline related comment: I find it remarkably ironic that Tropical Storm Bill (my dad’s name) is hitting Texas (where my dad lived) right before Fathers’ Day - given that he passed away in February. Apparently he’s not happy about something. ---

Please stop raining already! At least for a little while? Pretty please? There’s standing water places where I’ve never seen standing water before. We don’t have it as bad here as other parts of the state but it’s still causing some problems. Two of the three roads I can use to get places from here are flooded and the other is under construction. You can’t get there from here… ---

It’s like they just assume that you must be a drug seeking junkie, no matter what your health problems are or what drug you are asking for. Please have a good cry with me. My eldest is about to graduate from sixth grade tomorrow. I swear just yesterday she was so small I could hold her in my hands and marvel at her milky little fingers and cheeks with a hint of baby pink to them. Today she’s almost as tall as I am with thick curls and a talent for math. She has her father’s eyes and his internal introvert preferences. You can tease a joke out of her and watch the grin spread into her entire face about a second later. In our twelve years together, I’ve learned how to hold tight while slowly letting go. I’ve learned that you can love someone so much that it is like another sense. I’ve gone from meeting her every need to helping her find her own needs without me. I will watch her tomorrow, in her pretty pink dress and heels and I will be both incredibly happy and just a little bit sad at the same time. My baby is gone. In her place is someone I adore just as much, a girl about to step into womanhood with me who still deliciously lets me reach for her hand. ---

It can’t be any worse than the local water that is sold by the slice. Depending on the day, it reeks of pond scum, is stinkier than a bottle of Clorox, or is opaque. The Feds recently demanded they scrap the gaseous Chlorine system they were using and get to a more modern system introduced in the 1960’s. Reason? They dammed near killed the last inspector with a chlorine leak. This city is still replacing wooden pipes in the street. I have bigger fish to fry than what is in the bottles. At least I am not down wind of the factory they took for taxes, with thousands of unmarked 55 gallon drums they discovered in the basement… ---

Its raining again. The ground is over saturated and there is no place for the water to go. Our pond is knee deep, I don’t know where the pool is anymore and the trees are leaning in a very alarming fashion. The hounds are now peeing on newspapers next to the door, we are running out of kitty litter and if I can’t get out of the storms soon I’m going to do violence to hubs who keeps talking about moving to Las Vegas. Yeah, Bill, we aren’t moving now so just shut the fuck up about how nice it will be to live somewhere that doesn’t have weather besides hot, HOT, FUCHING HOT and flash flood season. Lucky is also getting on my last nerve. He is bored about the view out of the windows. Nagging and yowling and pawing at me all the fucking time. Hopes the rest of the TX dopers are doing OK. Our power keeps cutting in and out, internet is iffy. Our home is still watertight. I’m going to beat hubs to death with a shotgun. Other than that, we are doing well. ---

If you mean housing, here in the UK it’s cheaper to buy and pay a mortgage that works out at half of what your rent for that property would be (assuming you can get a mortgage, not taking into account repairs you’ll be liable for).
