Yesterday I started having chest pain around 9 AM or so. I thought I was just slouching too much. By around 2:30, I was still having chest pain, it hurt to breathe, if I coughed I hurt, and I was a little light-headed. So, I took myself to the cardiac ER to get checked out. (Thankfully, it’s just chest wall inflammation, and all my lab results are peachy.) So, I call my husband to let him know where I am, and he said he would call our daughter. About 30 minutes later (or so), he shows up, makes a comment about “being in the right place to hear about this”, and tells me that our daughter had an accident on the way to come see me. Not her fault, she was rear-ended in a turn lane. She’s fine. Next, I get the diagnosis from the doctor and get sprung from the ER. I send my husband down to be with my daughter while they get everything sorted out and figure out if the car is driveable, etc. I find out later that the driver who hit her is uninsured, and didn’t have a license, either. My husband calls the insurance and confirms that we have uninsured driver coverage. Today, he is taking the car to the body shop for an estimate (per the insurance). My daughter went to work but is very sore, so she is going to the doctor this afternoon to get checked out (also per the insurance). I am still having mild chest pain; the anti-inflammatory seems to be working for the most part. Oh, and it’s my birthday week. This is not how I wanted to start it out. ☹ ---

This reminds me of the time I was sitting on a bench in a public park waiting for the Novocaine from my dental visit to wear off so I could go eat lunch. An old guy struck up a conversation with me, eventually talking my ear off for at least an hour about Thomas Edison and how the early cylinders were far better than the first 78 RPM records. I just didn’t have the heart to cut him off, as it was obvious that this subject completely fascinated him and he was starved for someone to talk to. I did however politely decline his offer to come out to New Jersey to see his collection of Edison memorabilia. ---

An older coworker once complained to me that the last time she had a doctor’s appointment, everyone in the waiting room was staring at a smart phone or tablet. She didn’t like the lack of social interaction. Yeah, that’s about the last place I want to have any social interaction with people… ---

Oh myyy, **Indyellen**! What a day! I’m glad both you and your daughter are okay, but not the way you want to celebrate a birthday! I’d offer you hugs, but I don’t want to squish you and make your chest hurt more! And I feel like a heel posting on the mini rants, after the lovely, lovely weekend I’ve had being bowled over by the generosity of my fellow Doper, but… Dearest, darling husband, light of my life, heart of my heart: the next time you yell and wake me from a deep sleep? Please don’t act all surprised that I was actually pretty deeply asleep at ~ 4:30 in the morning, especially after I spent half the night sitting at hospice with my aunt. And please, please, pretty please, if you wake me to remove the [TENS unit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutaneous_electrical_nerve_stimulation)leads from your back? Please turn the damned things off before I start trying to remove them! Owowowowow! ---

This is the week that will never fucking end. Just had the truck fixed, and the damn engine light is back on. It’s riding rough and there’s the subtle odor of exhaust in the cab, just like it was last week. Discovered this, as I was on my way to finally upgrade my phone, as that’s been spazzy lately and I must always have a phone on me in case I get “The Call”. Now, usually, when we go into AT&T, you can’t move for a salesperson accosting you. Nope. Not today. Three reps: one trying to repair a phone while the owner was dithering, one attempting to sell a family plan deal to a large family with significant language barriers, and a rep trying to set up three phones for a mom/dad/adult son, but dad was busy on his phone, mom was trying to get the rep to come down in prices, and the adult son was bouncing around, changing his mind on what damn phone he wanted. Gah. ---
