He’s 21. You’re 37. You’ve talked for weeks about how you wanted to dump him. You always bought his meals, paid for a trip, bought him gifts, etc. And yet, when he’s overheard alluding to the fact that you are his sugar daddy, you suddenly act offended, surprised, and hurt? Also, bringing him up daily and talking about how you are over him, listing out all his (many, alleged) flaws, and trying to act like he has been badmouthing all of his friends behind their backs? Really? And we won’t even discuss the alleged barista who has been flirting with you and wrote his number on your coffee cup (in handwriting suspiciously similar to yours). It’s pretty bad when the 21 year old comes across as the mature one. ---

Not so much of a rant, but as I have been hacking up hairballs (phlegm) for a week, I decided to stop at the friendly neighborhood Minute Clinic to make sure that nothing is growing that shouldn’t be. The lovely NP concurred that it is allergies. Keep taking the Allegra, keep taking the Mucinex, add some Flonase, and suffer gently. I haven’t had allergy attacks in like 3 years. I pit the pollen. :mad: ---

I’m in month four of mandatory overtime, the project’s just weeks away from finishing, and we found out just yesterday that since we didn’t meet the deadline our producers didn’t schedule for, we won’t be getting any sort of bonus for shipping the project. ---

Looks like I’m going to have to help plan an intervention for one of my best friends. When you miss a job interview because you’d rather go drinking at 10 am, even though you stayed out until 11 pm the night before said interview? Yeah, something needs to be done. Also, telling some people that the interview happened, and others that it got rescheduled, when you know that all the parties talk to each other? How did you expect not to be caught in the lies? Fuck. ---

I had surgery two weeks ago. A recent CT scan shows fluid build up “deep to the incision.” The area is 1 x 2 x 18 cm (nearly 7 inches long) and could be turning into an abscess. To forestall that, I’m on a two week round of two different antibiotics. I hate needles but what these pills are doing to my gut is making me wish they would just aspirate the damned thing and figure out what’s going on. ---

I hadn’t seen him smile for at least 2 years because of the pain he was in. 24 hours after the surgery he was laughing and joking with the nurses. He is absolutely a new man. Besides just eating live culture yogurt, get some multi-strain pills from the health food store. Do not take at the same time as the antibiotics, take at opposite times of day and keep taking for a week after you get off the antibiotics. And, yes, please confirm this with your MD. I will bet a nickel he/she will say something along the lines of “Hmm, sure couldn’t hurt”. ---

Today was lawn-mowing day. Our yard includes a strip of grass between the fence and the road - maybe 10’ wide and about 400’ long (we have a 3 acre corner lot.) It’s aggravating enough when I have to stop to pick up branches that have fallen along this strip. Imagine my delight when I get to clean up the garbage that passing motorists feel free to fling from their vehicles. Today, it was a plastic Sprite bottle, a paper plate, a small snack bag, and a black sock. In the past, there have been beer cans, broken glass bottles, plastic bags, and probably other things I’ve blocked out for my own mental health. I hope it’s not my neighbors doing this. I suspect, because it’s a dark stretch of road off the main drag, it’s a popular parking spot for miscreants. That would explain the tire tracks. I further suspect they’re the ones leaving the trash. I should get a motion-activated spotlight or 6 mounted along the fence - for their safety, of course. Assholes. ---
