The first movie presented us with pretty incredible-looking dinosaurs on the big screen, with a good story. So it was eye-popping and new, _with a good story_. Twenty years later, the eye-poppingness and newness isn’t there anymore, and the story looks like it sucks. And that’s why I’m passing on this project. ---

In the book The Lost World, I think it actually gets someone killed. (Doesn’t explain why it works for Grant in the first JP book, though.) ---

I wish they’d stop trying to remake Muldoon . Muldoon was one of the greatest things about JP (little shorts and all) and they keep trying to recapture his awesomeness. Unless they dig up and reanimate Bob Peck’s corpse, it ain’t gonna happen. I think Chris Pratt is only like ten years younger than Peck was in JP but he still looks like Junior Park Ranger in the trailer. And my god, the trailer is bad. If it had been really subdued with just lots of hard cuts between people’s horrified faces with that sad piano rendition of the theme playing and NO DINOSAURS shown it would have been awesome. I actually lol’d when Pratt said “Depends… What kind of dinosaur they cooked up in that lab.” The dinosaurs from the first JP were scary enough. And they weren’t scary just because of how huge or fast or smart they were (though that certainly helped). Most of it was the tense situations. Oh fuck, kids in the jeep with the t-rex! Oh fuck, kids in the kitchen with the raptors! Oh fuck, kids in the computer room with a Unix system! But now they have to try to one-up themselves with each movie (and possibly compete with the kaiju/Godzilla???). Oh, JP had a t-rex, huh? Well JP II had TWO t-rexes! JP III had a giant tricyptoplots! And now they’re finally making dinosaurs up. Presumably in JW the scientists have handily genetically modified the dinosaur to be the perfect zoo-destroying tourist-killer - which is an odd thing for them to do. Still, I guess there’s a chance it winds up being interesting or fun. Maybe a “so bad it’s good” movie, which is really a far cry from the first film, which I still watch and enjoy quite regularly. ---

For comparison, I dug up the [original teaser trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QMue9j_RKg) for the first. Feels almost quaint in how subdued it is. But how effective! ---

You guys seem to be ignoring what could be the line between another lame JP movie or the greatest movie ever made. If there are tame dinosaurs facing some sort of Godzilla- like evil dinosaur… Will we get Chris Pratt riding a T-Rex? Because that’s like, impossible they didn’t think about doing that. ---

I found a leaked [Jurassic World brochure](http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Leaked-Jurassic-World-Brochures-Reveal-An-Amusement-Park-Death-43871.html) from last summer. A lot of the things in the trailer are mentioned (mosasaurus feeding time, gyrosphere, canoeing among the dinos). But apparently there’s also a herbivore petting zoo area, which seems…spectacularly stupid. ---

I am kind of surprised they haven’t quietly uploaded some YouTube videos that are made as if they are in the world the movie is in. That kind of viral marketing seems very common these days and this seems like a great candidate for it.
