I suspect that \*\*xtisme \*\*and I share few political views, but he seems like a decent enough sort, and hardly deserving of your screed. Perhaps when you grow the hell up and come to realize that reasonable people can disagree, you’ll understand. He supported the war, and came to realize that it was wrong, and based on false premises. It purposefully attempts to poison the well of that discussion by accusing xtisme of holding a view which he does not hold and one that carries some negative connotations. I’m not aware of apologist ever being a positive thing or even really a neutral. I’m honestly not trying to add a new term to our lexicon of warnable insults, but certainly such behavior is not good for the tone of Great Debates and is worth some mild admonishment. ---

**xtisme** The Jungle People do not hear the monkey’s in the trees. Why do you let that retarded little monkey get to you? This is a guy who hates the religious because they are hateful, after all, remember? He hates 90% of the people alive, and yet chastises people on the very same subject. He clearly cannot comprehend the effect on morale that having nukes on the table brings. Nukes are scary, if you take them off the table, they are less scary. Their effectiveness is based on the fear of their use. He cannot comprehend the notion that we went in, and so now we need to follow through for better or worse. I think you were terribly wrong for supporting the Iraq war in the first place, but you’re right to think we have a responsibility to try and see it through. We went in there and fought someone else’s revolution for them. Colonialism is a dirty business, but we can’t just go in there and experiment and then forget about it a few years later. **Der Trihs** is a moron with very little capacity for critical thought. His opinion simply is not equal to yours. He is your intellectual inferior by many orders of magnitude. He deserves pity, not respect. Do not respect him so much as to think that when he calls you an apologist it carries any weight. ---

For **Der Trihs** to call him an apologist is definitely a negative connotation. We’ve almost completely obliterated the notion of context. So many dollar words have been colloquialized by 25 cent intellects that we cannot recall that context drives meaning more than the word itself. By the definition you are using **Xtisme** is certainly an apologist, whether or not it is negative is dependent upon whether or not the person perceiving him as an apologist thinks that the think he is defending is a negative. ---

[/QUOTE] Give me a break. **xtisme** has been openly against the war for a good long time and for a poster who frequents GD as often as **Der Trihs** not to know that just shows that he either a.) pays no attention to anything but his own blustering or b) has blinders on the size of Wisconsin. And, yeah, calling someone an “apologist” today for having at one time supported military action years ago is retarded. Now as it happens I don’t think an accusation of _apologist_ automatically rises to the level of a warnable offense, either. But I do think it is close enough to the line that a mild admonishment to tone it down would be reasonable. But that doesn’t changes the fact that **Der Trihs** is habitually a jerk, if not necessarily a troll. ---
