Ornaments are usually not written out in, e.g., Japanese, or Baroque, or Indian, music for the same reason. The last time I had bagpipes in my life was in my teens. I was on the seventh hole of our local public golf course after a line of evening thunderstorms had passed through. The sun had come out but the course was largely deserted. As I ascended from a deep fairway bowl towards the elevated green, I began to hear bagpipes. They seemed to be coming from the east, but I couldn’t see the source. I kept climbing as the bagpipes got louder. Eventually as I reached the green, I could see a solitary bagpiper playing to a small but appreciative audience in the park across the street. Earlier I had ascended to another elevated green just after the thunderstorms passed, to find that it was carpeted with rabbits. That was a very strange evening. ---
