Just LOOK at this old Library!

Little Rock had one of the historic Carnegie libraries. Downtown on the corner of 7th and Louisiana.

Honestly, it was a depressing grey and butt ugly. My mom used this library in the 1950’s.

It was replaced with a new library (same corner) in 1964. I visited that library many times in the early 1980’s.

It closed in 1997 and a new Library opened in the River Market. About a mile away.

Here’s the equally ugly modern LR library built in 1964. The library moved in 1997. I have many great memories of reading there. It was pretty nice inside. Parking access was terrible.

The building hasn’t changed. I think it’s office space now.
