As we all seem to have realized, it’s summertime. That blissful time of the year when I don’t have to wake up at 5 in the morning to take my shower, eat breakfast and leave the house in order to get to school on time. However, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean I don’t have to shower. Unfortunately, my water pressure doesn’t seem to realize this. All I ask. ALL I ASK! Is ONE FUCKING SHOWER! One time when somebody doesn’t turn on the hose, or flush the toilet, or get a glass of water, or do SOMETHING involving the water that I am currently attempting to use. Quite unsuccessfully. In my house, the phrase “I’m taking a shower” is like a CUE to go do laundry or turn off the water or do SOME FUCKING THING that could be saved for HALF AN HOUR while I take my shower. (My showers aren’t gonna get any shorter, people. It’s half an hour in the summer, and 10 minutes during school.) JUST DON’T TOUCH THAT FAUCET! ---

Do you really expect the entire household to put their lives on hold so you can have an abnormally long shower once a day? Yes, abnormally, stupidly long. If you can’t manage a decent-length shower this time of year, having respect for everyone else and what they’re putting off for you, then you get what you deserve. ---

Thirty minutes for a summer shower isn’t stupidly long, although one a day is a little much, IMO. I totally understand the OP’s frustration, though. Once you’re in the " zen shower mindset", it TICKS ME OFF to be snapped out of it. ---

I dunno. It takes my girlfriend maybe 12 or 13 minutes to shower. Takes me about 5. Sucks losing pressure, but come talk to me when you have shower with crappy pressure in a duck-to-get-inside wall niche using sulfur water. Not fun. ---

I remember having to shower in a cubicle whose ceiling was about the level of my eyebrows, whose shower fitting was the level of my armpit, and in which I _knew_ the weird mathematician down the corridor had had sex with his girlfriend because frankly the Three Tenors at full tilt couldn’t have matched the noise they made. Kneeling in mathmo spooge was not my idea of fun. Had great water pressure, mind you. ---

Eh, I spend at least 20 minutes in the shower, because I have long thick hair that takes a while to shampoo and condition. Add in pit and leg shaving, and it’s close to 30 minutes. I don’t find that odd, in the least. And I warn everyone else in the house to refrain from using any hot water, or doing laundry, while I’m showering. (As if anyone would, but still…) ---

I think the OP can have no water usage most of the time. Sometimes it’s necessary, but most of the time people can be polite. And this is coming from someone who takes 3-7 minute showers. Humg Mung, when I was in college for a year I was in a triple that was meant for handicapped students. I am 5’5"…the shower stall literally did only come up to my armpit. It was awful. The toilet was almost on the floor. The following year I had a single. ---

In the mornings, before work, I can get in a good face scrubbing, pit and leg (up to the knee) shaving, and hair (down to almost my waist) washed and conditioned in about 10-15 minutes. I have a system: 1)get in shower, immediately shampoo and rinse hair 2) condition hair then shave pits and legs 3) wash the rest of my body 4) wash face with facial scrub 5) rinse body, face, and conditioned hair all together 6) get out of the shower Now, if I have leisure time, I can take a 30 minute shower. Hot water, shower massage attachment, and honey-almond scrub. Heaven. ---

It is when I read a self-absorbed, whining post like this that I lament that now a whole generation of young Americans has been deprived of the cultural, personal and educational opportunity that comes with being jerked abruptly from the bosom of the family and required to live in a barracks, sharing shower, toilet and sleeping quarters with 40 or 50 others in like circumstances. Few things engender a greater appreciation for the least of creature comforts and personal space that sitting with seven or eight other young persons, polishing boots and taking a dump. ---

I have hair _down_ to my hips and legs that need to be shaved all the way _up_ to the hip. I still can’t figure out how to spend more than ten minutes in the shower. ---

I dunno, **Sattua** … My hair’s not nearly as long as yours, but it’s still long and thick. Shampooing and conditioning take a while, and then shaving my various bits adds to that. It takes me a good 20 minutes to shower if I’m doing my head to toe extravaganza. My water pressure ain’t all that… maybe that has something to do with it? I have to say, though, I generally give a 10 minute warning that I’m going to take a shower, as does my husband. We tend to be very mindful of each other. The boys were very good about it, too, when they lived at home. Not everyone is as quick in the shower as others are. That’s cool in my house. 🙂 ---

I don’t get it. Every morning, I’m in the shower itself for 3-5 minutes, and am out, shaved, and dressed in less than 10. What do people do in the shower for so long? Hell, even when I get ready for bed, I’m not any longer. I grew up with two sisters sharing my same bathroom, and would get _pissed_ when they tied it up for that long (read: one hour-minimum). But then again, ,aybe that’s where I learned to get up earlier and just do my thing before they got in there. . . Tripler . . . and yes, I wash everything in those five minutes.
