Well, I just resubscribed today, having gotten the e-mail that my first year’s subscription was about to run out. I’m not sure why exactly I did it, or what exactly it’ll do for me, given that the board’s about to go free-to-post (and would probably prefer the advertising revenue to my subscription); it just sort of unconsciously happened. Nothing much else to say\*, but I felt the anomalously sappy need to share that pointless mundanity, and the board thankfully offers me a place to do just that sort of thing. \*: Oh, except, many thanks again to **Liberal** for sponsoring my first year; I hadn’t really been sure I was going to stick around as a member when I first made my guest account, but thanks to his generosity, posting here is now almost as much a part of my routine as breakfast or showering, for better and worse. ---

I have until May to decide. 1. I don’t really mind the advertising. 2. I also don’t think the fee is all that high. 3. Why, however, should I pay - just to see the site ad free, which doesn’t bother me? 4. Although it is nice to have “Charter Member” below my name - who the fuck cares? I mean, if you see the number of posts I have, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out I have been here for awhile. 5. I am very glad that they are going to make the site free again…no offense to those, like myself, who have stuck around and paid the fee - but after a time it does start to feel like you are hanging around the same group of people at a party too long and everybody knows everything about you. We need some “new blood” here, and I miss the days that threads would come and go in an hour, instead of sitting there for a week or two simply because nobody is adding anything to anything. ---

I did it during the last go around of bruhaha just as a way of showing support and because I’m the type that if I don’t do things while I’m thinking of them I’ll probably forget. For better or for worse this is my home on the internet, although I’m looking forward to new blood too. I just hope we haven’t gone totally insular by now and will tear new freeps (my new word for free posters. Pick it up, it’s a good one) to shreds like starving bears being thrown a little bunny. ---

I never noticed, but I tended to hang around more in GQ and GD back then, and less in the more social forums. Here’s hoping that there won’t be any issues. ---
