# Just saw a car driving with a Hawaiian license plate.....in Minnesota....

Maybe they don’t realize they don’t have to pay a toll everywhere, and freeways are free.

That’s the point. The US state’s law doesn’t apply outside the state, and Mexico law doesn’t recognize expiration of foreign plates. The result is, if you have a US plate in Mexico, it never expires, as long as you keep the vehicle in Mexico. I mean, per law, in Mexico, it literally never, ever expires.
