The sister, Sue, was perhaps the worst actor I’ve ever seen in a major film. That scene where she was mouthing off to the gangsters on the street corner was awkward to the extreme… it was so poorly delivered it made me cringe. I couldn’t believe they didn’t just laugh at her.
She sucked through the whole movie except that one part right after she was assaulted, and that’s probably because she didn’t have to speak. Her injuries and bruises were far better actors than she could ever hope to be.
It genuinely surprises me that anyone here thought her acting was even acceptable, much less “excellent” and “fantastic”. It was so bad I thought at first that being a bad actor was part of her script (like she was playing the part of a bad liar trying to set Walt up for something). But nope, she was just genuinely bad. Barf.
Yeah, she was awful. Likable, but an awful, awful actor. I hope she studies intensely if she wants to keep acting (and I do wish her the best, of course; most kids her age would’ve actually done worse.)
I guess I can bump this since it’s only a couple of months old. Saw it the other night. GREAT! flick is all I can say. Vintage Eastwood. It make me feel like a kid again. I guess I was underestimating it because others told me that it was just okay…
At the end I was getting excited thinking he was going to kill all of the gang members, but in the back of my mind I knew that was unrealistic. I agree with others that he is the only 80 year old who can pull off that bad-ass routine. Eastwood was robbed of an Oscar for this.
