[Fucking morons!!!](http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/07/23/pilots.dui/index.html)

> Prosecutors also released documents related to the pilots’ Breathalyzer tests. Cloyd – tested at 12:53 p.m., more than two hours after the flight was scheduled to depart – registered a blood alcohol level of .091 percent. Hughes, tested about 15 minutes after Cloyd, registered a .084 percent alcohol level.

So, a full 8 hours after they had paid their bar tab, these numbnuts were still above the legal limit to drive a _car_. They were at twice the limit the FAA, and their employer, set as a legal limit to fly a plane.

Why ANY booze in the bloodstream is OK to fly a plane is beyond me.

Christ, they had to stop the plane on the runway to arrest these maggots. What the fuck were they thinking???

And I’m flying across the country next month.

Maybe they “fly better when they’re drunk”.

Idiots, both of them.

34 ounce beers and a bar tab paid at 4:22 am.

Get the genital clamp.

I don’t know about civilian aviation, but the US Air Force has a special rule about that: “24 hours from bottle to throttle”.

Perhaps the civilian world should have a similar rule?

(No, I’m not military, just FYI.)

Those pilots just took consulting jobs for Boeing, I heard. They’re hard at work designing their first plane, the Boeing 7 and 7.

I wonder how long they have been pulling that shit. IIRC one was a pilot for 20 years and the other for 5 or so. Thank god they caught those morons.

The last time I flew a plane, not flown in one, the rule, in Canada, was the same as the USAF, 24 hours minimum since your last drink.

It does. 8 hours bottle to throttle. Kinda short if you think about it.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but there’s been more than a few times when I’m still not that on top of things eight hours after my last drink. 24 hours sounds much more reasonable.

[slight hijack]
I might be a little late with this one (I’d be mighty surprised if there wasn’t already a Pit thread on this), but to go with the above, there was [**this** brilliant little gem](http://www.sacbee.com/state_wire/story/3510504p-4538772c.html)… and after this incident with the Way-Incredibly Drunk pilots, methinks AW’s got some 'splaining to do.

I’m against frivolous lawsuits, but frankly, I hope that woman sues the ever-living sh!T out of those morons. (Guess which airline I’m NOT flying on anytime soon.)

I wonder just how trashed you have to be to still be legally intoxicated 8 hours later…

and where the hell is the bar that sells 34 ounce beers??? How come I never ran across one when I was still drinking??
Must be a pilot thing.

There are over 2500 recovering alcoholics flying US airliners today.

Worry, not till I get on Areoflot… Bawahahahhaa

also wonder what would be the opinions if the woman had asked if the pilots were carrying a bomb in their ‘brain’ bags? I kniow what happens in the terminal if you say the “b” word out loud…

I think that any airline who has ever had a problem pilot for any reason should be shut down and all assets given to the surviviors of their previous flights. The CEO’s jailed and the pilots put to work picking up trash like the scum they are.
