Remember the cocky, twitchy bastard of _American Graffiti [i/] and \* Star Wars_?

Now watch his flicks today. So when exactly did golden boy become the actor with a permanent rod up his ass?

\*The man doesn’t move. \*

He changed. He’s said in past interviews that characters like Han Solo and that guy from American Graffiti just don’t interest him these days. The last movie I saw him in was “What Lies Beneath” or something like that. I didn’t think the movie nor his performance was all that great.

Hmmmm, one of my favorite actors. I haven’t noticed the change. He still looks as good to me as ever. I guess he’s like any other actor, some films he does good in, some not so good. But then, don’t they all.

[Harrison Ford](http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/2080/ford.html) is in, but I especially liked “The Fugitive.” He didn’t seem to be a mannequin in that, but then, I think that was made in '93. Are you talking about movies much more recent than that?

I don’t know what happened either. I was severly disappointed in his performance in **Return of the Jedi** , where he really lost the edge he had in the first two movies. In #3, his Han Solo seemd to be a pudgy, whining, putz-loser.

Perhaps that was an indication that Ford was losing interest in the “bad-boy” type he was so good at playing. It also coincides a transition to the more respectable Jack Crawford character type, who is part of the government, rather than a rebel and forced into doing unconventional things, rather than being unconventional in himself.

There are some actors, like Clint Eastwood, for whom less is more.

For Harrison Ford, on the other hand, less is less.

I consider Blade Runner (1982\*) the turning point in Ford’s career. That’s when he decided that he knew better than the writers or director what his character was really like and how the movie should end. I.e., when he went from being an actor to a star. And since star’s don’t have to act…

You guys are just jealous, he’s so hot! And I don’t say that about just anybody who as old as my dad!

He gets different roles now, because of his age. No casting agent would think of him in a _Graffiti_-type role today, he just doesn’t fit it anymore.

He was funny and sexy in _Six Days, Seven Nights_. Not great theatre or anything, just plain old entertainment with a great looking male lead.

Most actors seek out different roles as they age, because they don’t want to become charicatures of themselves, like Pacino seems to have become. He’s all about the wild eyes, messy hair and manic outbursts. Didn’t that get tired about 10 years ago, Al?

One more thing- if they do make _Indiana Jones_ part 4, I will gladly shell out my $7.50 to see Harrison Ford and Sean Connery on the same big screen.

Oh my yes.

IIRC correctly, Ford said in an interview that unless Indiana Jones 4 was titled “Indiana Jones and the Comfortable Chair” he wasn’t going to be doing another one.

Come to think of it, seeing Indy trying to steal the Comfy Chair from clutches of the nefarious Spanish Inquisition would make a pretty good flick.

Yo, EJsGirl,

We’re not discussing whether Ford is a good looking manniquin, but when he became a (good looking or otherwise) manniquin. The link from Cervaise reminded me of one of Ford’s really stiff performances: Sabrina. Egad, Kinnear was just playing around and got better reviews than Ford.

Disclaimer: I am not anti manniquin. I respect manniquins, some of my best friends are manniquins, and yes I would let my sister date one. I just wouldn’t cast one in a lead role.

Although at this point it would resemble _Cocoon_ more than any of the other Indiana Jones movies.
'Cause they’re both so old. _ **Get it?!?** _
