I’ve read on this Board about the burgers served on glazed doughnuts instead of buns, and deep-fried whatever, but today we visited the Topsfield Fair (which in eight more years will be celebrating its 200th anniversary). We grabbed some things to eat there, and tried to be good. But i noticed the plethora of fried foods – fried chicken and fried dough and Blooming Onions and fresh-made potato chip-like things. “Fried food is quick to make and a Guilty pleasure” opined Pepper Mill. But beyond the usual, they had indulgences like Deep Fried Oreos and Deep Fried Twinkies and Deep Fried Ice Cream. But it was the first time I ever saw Deep Fried Cheesecake. I was really taken aback. That really seemed like cholesterol overload. My arteries were hardening just considering the idea. As I say, we tried to be good. Pepper Mill and I had soup. MilliCal splurged on a Corn Dog. But she’s young, still. I’m sure there’s stuff out there even more unhealthy, but I was surprised. I’m even more surprsed that a quick internet search reveals no end of sites telling you how to make this. ---

I had my first deep fried Oreo a month or two ago. OMG. Makes me wanna say to hell with it and just get fat and eat those all day, every day. It was fantastic. The booth was also selling the deep fried twinkies, and interestingly, deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Everyone in line before us ordered one of those. I somehow had restraint and had just one Oreo, and I even let the bf have a small bite. I am going to a fair tomorrow and if they have the deep fried Oreos I am getting one. Just one. One… ---

More signs that the Last Days are upon us. had to look up the Deep Fried Coke item, because i couldn’t figure out how that was supposed to work. Apparently you freeze it first. Don’t know why anyone would, though. Forgetting about the rest of the bod for a second, the very idea of deep fried Coke syrup or a deep-fried Mars bar makes my teeth hurt. ---

I heard about deep-fried cheesecake before I heard about most of the other things here. (Alas, since my wife likes to drag me to the state fair, I’ve heard of everything here. I finally told her that if she drags me again this year I’m saying fuck it and trying it ALL. It’s the only way I might enjoy myself at that dump.) ---

I saw that fried cheesecake monstrosity prepared by Paula Deen the butternator. I also saw the heart attack burger in one of her demos. And the diarrhea apple pie. Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, all I have to do is take another peek at one of her videos on Youtube. ---
