… for our friends who may need prayers, thoughts and/or vibes, and maybe even a few bucks for the essentials, from time to time? To wit: if I don’t surf into “New Posts” (and I rarely do), it’s possible I may miss a Doper asking for help. I know **TubaDiva** , dear friend, that such a thing would be difficult to administer, wouldn’t it? Yet we all know you’ve been flying this “airplane” by the seat of your pants for quite a while now, and all of us appreciate you so much!🙂 If anyone can be the boss (of me) of so many great acts of kindness, I nominate _you_ to be our leader and advise us. My personal feeling is that it’s better to handle these things one by one, rather than having someone with problems “lost” in a thread. ---

I hope that we all look out for one another – there’s ample evidence here at the Straight Dope that we have a thoughtful community of caring people. I would also hope that those who need a little bit more would speak up and say something. Even if it’s just the message “I understand what you’re going through,” that can be very powerful. Hugs have power. And the good deeds made manifest here on this site have also changed people’s lives for the better. All that is meaningful. I also believe the personal touch is what’s required – and every situation is different and needs different ways of handling what’s happening – and all this is best served by doing this on an individual basis. Quasi, for all your infirmities you’re usually on the ball and right on the scene as you can be. So I don’t think you’re missing anything. 🙂 ---

I briefly touched upon my dilemma in this [Pit thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14739581&postcount=85) and I’m wondering what the appropriate forum would be for me to expand upon my situation. Perhaps to gain some insight and knowledge from the vast storehouse of knowledge and personal experiences that the SDMB can (IMHO) rightfully proclaim itself to be. Sounds like a massively sucky situation. I’d start a thread in IMHO, our advice-giving forum – people there can help with what they know about the various legal, financial, and medical issues involved. (Though keep in mind, of course, that this is free advice on a message board, and you’ll probably need to consult with a pro or pros IRL as well.) I wasn’t sure if it should go in IMHO or MPSIMS. Now I know. I shall start a thread when I’ve more time to compose the title and opening OP. And yes, it’s a “massively sucky situation”. ☹ Things _ **will** _ work out for me, **how** they work out is going to be determined by the manner in which I deal with them. 😉 I do realize that it is “free advice on a message board”, (and there may even be better venues to solicit advice _ **from** _) and I also understand that I should seek professional help with any decisions that I might have to make. I have the opinion that the great majority of SDMB’ers are quite empathetic. Plus, I feel ‘connected’ here, in an unexplainable way. (Does that make sense?) Again, thanks for your input.
