This odd group was on tonight. Unfortunately, it seems that
They’re all gonna die. I missed almot the entire run of the cartoon, so I saw nothing of the Cadmus storyline until the season finale. Did they live or die? Does it show anything more on that?
As you saw the Ultimen were being controlled by the government group Cadmus. Cadmus ordered a strike on the Watchtower using literally dozens of Ultimen clones later in the season. As for the “originals,” I think its safe to assume that they are all dead until the writers decide to use them again and create a way for them to stay alive. Other than the clone army, no further mention was made.
On preview: Amanda Waller is a bit of a bigot when it comes to metas (superhuman folks) and that blinds her. She and the Bat are pretty much even evenly matched in terms of brains, balls, and social skills.
The Ultimen died, and the new batch were robbed of their minds, and put entirely under Galitea’s control for the final showdown with the League.
About Waller:
Amanda Waller is neither dumb or arrogant. She’s got more balls than Batman’s got brains - and she clearly has something on him, even if she didn’t have the power to back it up without it - which she does.
Wasn’t shown; presumably they died off-camera after a few weeks. The multiple copies of them in the seaon finale were expendable drones without human personalities.
No, Bats has the edge in training. Amanda could give him a run for the money in quick-uptake thinking, and she’s not far behind him in raw IQ. Great character.
You will find my admiration of Amanda Waller second to none, as her character’s genesis was by far the best thing that came out of DC’s immediate post-CRISIS revamp, the LEGENDS mini-series and John Ostrander’s run on SUICIDE SQUAD. But as far as her raw IQ being right behind Bats… c’mon.
Not cunning, ability to adapt to changed situations as they happen. “Temporal warp. Up to speed. Carry on.” That’s Hal, but it explains what I mean. She demonstrated an ability to drop preconceptions and analyze situations objectively when Bats pointed the Luthor thing out to her.
Since spoilers have gone the way of the dodo here…
Too bad, because I kind of liked the Ultimen.
I still hold the opinion that Waller is just a wee bit arrogant. She may be smart, but she’s up against several dozen super-geniuses. And lets face, after she apparently was blatantly suckered by Lex Luthor, who pretty much exudes untrustworthiness, she definitely needs to take a sober second look.
Secondly, why do her genetic toys keep dying on her? In the last ep of the season, we had Batman dealing with Ace, another of Cadmus’ projects, who kicked it.
Because she doesn’t give a shit about anything but they’re usefulness. So if her tampering is going to kill them, then that’s only a problem inasmuch as it makes them less effective.
Hmm. They had an Indian guy who could become gigantic, an Asian guy with tornado powers, a pair of pointy-eared shapeshifting twins, and a black guy who could shoot lightning bolts…
