I just purchased JL season one. One of the special features is a commentary track for Savage Time part 2. When I first watched this episode I saw a scene during an aerial battle featuring the Hawk Squadron where Superman destroyed a plane by flying through it. When Supes emerged from the explosion he was covered with burning Aviation fuel. He looked just like The Golden Age Human Torch. I smirked and thought it was a neat Marvel send up. I told a comic book geek friend of mine about it and he said he watched the episode but didn’t see what I saw. I thought maybe I was hallucinating. Well there it was again preserved in all its digital splendor. And the producers and creator didn’t acknowledge it at all. Am I seeing things? Am I reading too much into this? Do the DC guys want to avoid trademark infringement? Or am I just nuts? Please help, comment or enlighten. Oh and If there are other marvel nods I’ve missed please let me know. ---

Didn’t see the ep or the image. Considering that Marvel and DC have a history of nodding acknowledgements and full-blown pastiches of each others’ work (e.g. Marvel’s Squadron Supreme as a pastiche of the League, DC’s similar, albeit one-shot, appearance of a “Cap’s Kooky Quartet”-era Avengers) it wouldn’t surprise me if the resembalnce were intentional. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Marvel, after being made aware of it, did absolutely nothing about it. ---

I saw it, thought the exact same thing. The resemblance is perfect. (There’s even three comics, 2 marvel, 1 DC, where the writers all went to the same halloween party and told a story about it.) (Heck, the Celestial Madonna was written half at Marvel, half at DC. ) ---

I aware that there are several examples in comics. I was mainly asking about the JL cartoon. ---

Can you provide a screenshot or any evidence? It’s hard to do a comparison without.
