The Killing soured me on American adaptions of moody Scandinavian detective drama series. ---

I specified series; there’s a big difference between a big-budget movie adaption and a drama series that dragged out a murder investigation over two seasons and 26 episodes even though we were led to believe that it would be resolved in one season.
