Kama Sutra question from a virgin

Sorry, Lance - I should have read your whole post.

In the chapter “How to Relax the Girl (kanyâ visrambhana” it is written:

“A woman is like a flower. She must be treated gently, until she feels secure. If she is violently assaulted, she becomes hostile to any sign of affection. One must therefore strive to pacify her.”

Well, duh

Capacitor, I have been looking through the text (Alain Daniélou’s translation), and found only the advice against marrying women who bear the names of constellations and trees, and names ending with the letters l or r. Nothing about flower names. I am guessing that you don’t want to marry a tree-named woman because who wants her to be wooden in bed?

Please tell me you’re joking.

I guess the rivers of the western world remain clean and pure. Since I work in New York, I regularly see people drinking out of the Hudson and East rivers. I’m sure the same goes for the Thames and the Danube. And as far as wife abuse is concerned, it has been eliminated in Europe and I can only recall hearing of 1 incident last year in the US. And teen pregancy and AIDS have never been problems in our cities. And since the US citizens regularly elect female and non-Christian presidents (and India’s only had 1 female prime minister in its 53 year history), they could learn a thing or two from us about equality.

I had a college professor tell me that sarcasm is the simplest form of humor. And when dealing with simple people, its a pretty effective way of getting your point across. I hope that Adventurious82 recognized the sarcasm.

Also, I apologize to the OP and others for this little rant. But when I see ignorance and stupidity, I sometimes feel the need to combat it.
