I was just watching a clip of Harris speaking in front of a crowd and I was suddenly reminded of something… She looks and sounds exactly like the principal at my junior high school. I mean, it has been decades so I’m sure my memory is extremely unreliable, but it’s giving me deja vu. I do remember her bringing in people from my grade for an assembly because we were all starting out our first year at that school, and it was her first year as well as the principal. And she was very hopeful and excited about the opportunity to be the principal. Not a bunch of BS cheerfulness to make everyone feel better, but she was sincerely excited and hopeful. And I never forget how she kept telling us that we were “her class” because we all started at the same time. I really liked that lady. That’s a really good memory to pop in my head seeing Kamala Harris. ---

I hadn’t seen any of her speeches till this Philly one, and I am greatly impressed. She’s strong, upbeat, passionate, with a clear vision for where she wants to take the country. She’s going to make DonOLD look like the over-the-hill, degenerating degenerate that he is. ---

The last 5 major polls all put Harris ahead of Trump by a growing margin. Biden was down 4% with independents. The polling trend is great, but between her being new to the race, the VP announcement and Trump being in a bit of a slump, she’s enjoying an enormous honeymoon. Polls had Biden up by 10 points or more at this point in the 2020 election. Summer numbers don’t last – some Republican attacks are going to stick, she’ll make some fumbles. I just hope that Democrats who are giddy with delight over the current state of the race don’t sink into despair when the Harris campaign numbers come back down to earth. ---

I join you here! Biden polling had been cemented in place at his basement. We don’t know Harris’s ceiling but we can get used to the possibility of more typical polling volatility. Expectation is more rise through the convention bounce. But then expectation _should be_ some drop back down at least some. If that happens as should be expected we should not panic, but settle in for the slog. ---
