Voters who they manage to poll think tariff talking Trump will give us a better economy. The voter has no idea (90% of them) how the president relates to the economy. The voter may well be right in deciding that the party in power is responsible for the government part of the economy. The normal economic cycles are a fuzzy concept to them. But the facts do not really get to the voter, and there is a lag time of up to a year to see any affect the current administration has on the economy. Working class will only remember that “Biden tried to forgive student loans for those college folks.” Even the jobs numbers mean nothing if you have a crappy job. ---

In all fairness, voters also think unrealized capital gains tax talking Kamala Harris will give us a better economy. Policies like that make Trump a much more desirable candidate IMHO. ---

Voters really only hear the word “tax” in that. So yes, talking taxes should be minimized. This one is really only a sneaky wealth tax. ---

[Comparing the behavior](https://popular.info/p/major-outlets-change-standards-for) of the press now to eight years ago, it seems as though their handling of leaked e-mails has changed. Or something. In '16, when they got their hands on material from inside Ms Clinton’s campaign, they thought in would be all kinds of fun to share with their readers.        By contrast, in '24, when internal documents from inside Individual-ONE’s campaign found their way into the newsroom, it seems that the editors discovered things called “reticence” and “discretion”, choosing not to make that material public. The motivation for this change in behavior is, shall we say, unclear, but it sure makes it look like the press is camped out with the deranged millionaire. ---

That ad is brutal. The article says it will be on Fox News. I have a hard time believing that will happen. ---

Harris has been on a continuous sharp decline in Silver’s model since August 26th. She now only wins the EC 35.3% of the time which is lower than where she started (37.2% on Jul 29th). I hope that the debate moves the needle because if not, we are likely fucked. ---

I would dismiss Nate Silver at this point. He is trying to be important. He picks one poll and makes something of it. Other factors…he has no real claim to being a good predictor. Dismiss Rasmussen and Fox and Kamala is still ahead by about 1.5%. Include Rasmussen and she is ahead 1.2%. ---

Maybe I am missing something but Silver shows her ahead in the popular vote. What about the EC. 538 shows a decline for Harris too but not as sharp. It shows her winning 53.5% of the time from a high of 58% and continuing to trend down. ---

One poll or one model in September doesn’t really mean anything at all. Watch the trends over the next several weeks, and you might get a decent idea about how it’s going to go. ---
