That’s the beauty of it (from the Republican perspective, at least). You’re not bashing immigrants; you’re bashing those immigrants. Any given specific immigrant can say “Well, I know my ethnic group doesn’t eat pets, so obviously they’re referring to those other despicable people”. No matter who you are, there’s always someone else out there to hate. ---

Also, one of the things that Democrats have had to learn from Trump to their consternation is that bashing recent immigrants from a country or set of countries doesn’t necessarily alienate Americans descended from earlier immigrants from those countries. ---

I see what you mean, but the GOP billboard lettering is neater, more professional-looking. Now, maybe that’s just because cats are tidy critters, but I still think there’s a sly wink at the old canard about Chinese restaurants serving cat. ---
