So how do we think this will affect the race (if at all)? This morning, the Social Security Administration announced the annual cost of living allowance (COLA) for 2025, which is a 2.5% increase. I keep an eye on these things because my wife receives Social Security Disability payments. This is the smallest increase since 2020, although far from the smallest ever. Indeed, it’s right in line with the average increase for the past decade, which is 2.6%. Nevertheless, compared to the last couple of years, it’s smaller. The reason for the relatively smaller increase is largely the improved economy. I’ve already seen several reactions online that such a small increase is a slap in the face to the elderly, that the government wants us all to starve, that the recent decreases in the inflation rate are manipulated as an excuse not to give a larger increase, etc. Inasmuch as Harris is part of the current administration, and thus “responsible,” is this likely to take away some of her support? Granted, I don’t know how much support she has in that group to begin with (although my wife is all for her), but I wonder if this won’t be one more thing that will encourage people who might have been wavering to actually get out and vote for Trump, who will surely fix things. 🙄 On the other hand, I saw one person, in a YouTube comment, suggest that all of “us seniors” should just stop voting at all until the government comes up with a bigger COLA. I can’t think that would be good for Trump’s chances. 🙂 ---

Weren’t the kind of people online yelling about SS increases and the failure of this administration to do something about them already disinclined to vote for her? I mean the 60%-70% of them that aren’t bots/farms. ---

Obama is speaking at a rally in Pittsburgh. He was talking about the high cost of things child related and how she has a plan. How he bought diapers after his daughter was born. Buying them and changing them. He then asked the crowd if they thought trump ever changed a diaper. Talk about setting up an easy shot… someone in the crowd yelled out “his own!”. Much laughter. I’m sure the moment will go as viral as the crowd size moment. ---

the interviews that harris did the last few days reached quite a few people. call her daddy appx. 5 million. the view about 2.45 million howard stern around 10 million colbert about 3.2 million. tim walz had an arizona rally streamed on world of warcraft twitch stream. harris walz are going to where people are, finding new ways of getting to voters. ---

I usually couch it like this: Democrats as a party don’t really care about black people but are willing to offer them some concessions as long as it doesn’t impinge on their other priorities. Republicans want to hunt black people for sport. It’s not a great choice, but it’s not a difficult one either. ---
