More bizarre pandering from the Harris campaign. “Protect cryptocurrency investments so that Black men who make them know their money is safe.” First, no investment should be protected. Second, cryptocurrency is the last thing that should be promoted in any way, shape, and form. ---

I had to look three times to find where I had seen it as an actual link and not an image just to check that it wasn’t a fake. With the clock running down and the pressure on, I feel like she’s reverting to the habits that helped doom her 2020 campaign. Oddly specific proposals. Rambling answers that don’t say much. I don’t think it’ll move the needle much against her but I’m not sure it’ll help her pick up unlikely voters. ---

I’m not the target audience, but the crypto and the marijuana agenda items have me scratching my head. I’m not sure those are the things that would attract Black voters. They seem like good agenda items in general that would appeal to everyone. I’m sure everyone wants their crypto to be safe and be able to run marijuana businesses if they like. The first two about Black entrepreneurs and teachers seems like something both Black men and women would like. I’m not sure why these 4 items were listed in the Black _Men_ agenda. The only one that seems relevant to Black Men is the one for health issues. It seems like they added some filler since they didn’t want a list with just one item. As everyone knows, you need at least three items to make a list (Hi, Opal!). ---

You have to keep in mind there is a very small portion of the population that is still undecided. Harris main task at this point is to reach those people. I can certainly see crypto bros or pot users among the people who don’t really care about or pay attention to government, but care deeply about their pet issue. ---

She and her advisers decide to take a position on crypto and pot, and separately have a plan to target Black voters. And some staffer puts those together in a very clunky policy statement. No one actually sat down and said “we need to target Black male crypto investors.” ---

I’m no expert, but the premise appears to be that traditional finance orgs (banks) have been difficult for Blacks to get access. The gates to lending and saving are slanted in favor of generational wealth, and screening for loans and mortgages is slanted against them. I’m keep hearing how cryptocurrencies democratize saving, because it doesn’t have those gates to obtain. Something like 25% of Black men own cryptocurrency, versus IIRC 13% of white men. So there is a slight but definite market skew toward Black men, which makes it a target to reach out to them. But it’s pretty ham-handed to phrase it that way. ---

My problem with it is less the weird phrasing towards black men and more that I don’t want the government to do anything with crypto. I don’t care if you get scammed out of your fake asset. ---

I was out on my daily walk and saw a new neighborhood sign. It had some red on it and as I neared I assumed it was yet another Trumper, but instead it was a “Hate Won’t Make Us Great” sign using Shepard Fairey artwork for Obama, Trump, Biden and Harris. I quite liked it. ---

Harris did well with the Fox interview, especially considering that Baier was intent on only asking “gotcha” questions. I’m still feeling crawly after intentionally tuning into Fox to watch it. And the first thing I saw when I went to the channel was - I kid you not - an ad for My Pillow with that lunatic. I thought he went bankrupt?
