Dammit. I’m gonna be in Las Vegas that weekend. When I’m at Red Square, trying out 50 different types of vodka on their ice bar, I’ll think of you guys:) **Wikkit** , what abandoned mines are you talking about? Are they the Wolcott caves? Someone told me there’s some kind of satanic ritual thing going on up there. Something about sacrificing horses. I’m dead interested finding out more about how the legend of Wolcott came to be. ---

I’m up for anything that isn’t a dance club or where the music is so loud that we can’t actually talk to one another (unless talking is not on the agenda). Oh, and I’ve changed my mind. You can skip NKoTB, but you’ll have to replace them with some Andy Gibb. Ok guys, you really need to make up your minds about what we’re going to do. I need to figure out if I need to get a hotel room or not. Also please keep in mind that I am a poor woman with a horrible sense of directions so make sure the places we go are easy to find. I’m really hurt that I wasn’t asked to entertain, I am the best chair dancer in Kansas. ---

Any Dopers attending want/need to share a hotel/motel room if you will be staying Saturday night? Back twenty years ago when I went to my first sci-fi conventions(in KC by the way) we would get six people in a two bed room. We called it “gerbiling” We’d bring our own towels and so on. Some of us had to sleep on the floor, but I can handle that, if the room is cheap. Click on my username for my email address if you are interested. Heck, it could almost be an extension of the Dopefest itself! Slumber party!!! Snacks and drinks and so on. Who needs sleep? ---

At least one is flooded, which lends a nice subterranean venice feel to the festivities. I haven’t heard about any caves in Wolcott. (I’d never heard of Wolcott until just now) What do you know about them? I’m always looking for new leads. Rumors of satanic rituals in underground places are very common, and generally not true. I’ll probably be showing the Alaskan that I emntioned earlier a cave called “Satan’s Cave”; it’s just teenagers making dumb carvings. Wolcott is just north of Piper, in KCK. If you go north on 435 on that side of the city, you’ll get into some very pretty woodsy areas, just past the Woodlands race track. That’s Wolcott. I lived in Piper for six months, and the people there told me that there were caves “in them hills”, and that horses had their heads cut off there in ghastly satanic rituals. I assume its an urban myth, but I’d like to hear more details on it. Maybe I can write to the Pitch about it. ---

Decrapitated horses? ::shudder:: Can’t we just stick to the usual satanic rituals of basting newbies with butterscotch-n-bananas pudding? I fondly remember my initiation, and if it weren’t for my irritable bowel syndrome I’d do it again. I’m all for doing something on Saturday night as well. Bands, bars, booze, and/or bestiality, I’m up for anything that isn’t directly related to any Brown vs. Topeka shenanigans that’s plaguing the fair capital today. Some guys named Bush and Kerry are supposed to talk here today. Blech. May I sing backup for **sperfur** at her gig at the Nelson? I can do a really wicked Sid Vicious “My Way” impersonation, as well as Sid Vicious singing/screaming “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “It’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood”, and “Happy Birthday To You”. I vote for The River Market Brewing Company and its shrimp. I like comedy clubs (especially improv), but nothing beats shrimp in my eyes. Especially batter-free shrimp; especially all-you-can-eat steamed shrimp. Did I mention the shrimp? The rest of y’all’s mileage my vary, but that’s my vote. 🙂 **Sperfur** has mentioned the three above choices… does anyone else have a preference?
