Honestly, if I were a narcissistic douchebag, and I had the power to go wherever I wanted, interrupt whatever I wanted, and mess with whatever I wanted, anytime, anyplace, ever, **and never face the tiniest repercussions whatsoever** , the last thing I’m going to use this power for is defending the honor of some overrated R&B star. Kanye West reminds me of modern-day Black Hat Guy in xkcd; bulletproof and teflon-coated enough to make Don King weep with envy and doing NOTHING with it. I can imagine him forty years from now, long-forgotten and lamenting that he didn’t make his mark while he had a chance. A club shooting. An assassination attempt. A ponzi scheme. Street racing. Hacking Microsoft. What, not even one racist tweet, you lazy bum?? ---

Everything I’ve learned about the man has convinced me that he wasn’t really a hopeless Day 1 dirtbag, like, say, Bill O’Reilly, and that he probably would’ve turned out pretty okay, or at least not an embarrassment, if he ever, _ever_ faced negative consequences for his actions. Anything! Anything at all, dammit! He should’ve faced repercussions for stealing awards. He should’ve faced repercussions for making an utter mockery of the VMA awards. He should’ve faced repercussions for threatening a man on a subway. He should’ve faced repercussions for _that goddam Beyonce obsession, dammit_. At the very least he should’ve lost sales. Instead it’s enablers, enablers, enablers, and more enablers, with the occasional Pollyanna who really hates him and therefore decides to stand around and assume that he’s going to get his great comeuppance any day now. :smack: At least we can take some small comfort that rock bottom is schmoozing with a fellow charmed-lifer and delivering a bizarre tirade on SNL. We’ve seen what _normally_ happens when a man of resources gets a free pass through life. With any luck, all the enablers and attention-givers will finally accept the fact that he’s old hat, and he’ll fade into complete obscurity. At least until he tries to launch a renegade football league or break into minor league baseball. Yes, I went there. I have the sinking feeling he will too. 🙂 ---
