Instagram has suspended Ye’s account for 24 hours because he used a racist term to describe Trevor Noah. The term is “Koon baya”, which I never heard before, but after looking it up, it appears to mean "a black individual who is anti-black and often acts against the black community.” ---

Apparently, the slur “coon” itself can mean a black person who favors white people over black people, at least according to Urban Dictionary. Urban Dictionary does not (yet) have a definition for “koon baya,” which I suspect is original to Ye. ---

Note that unlike the word “nigger”, “coon” _is_ a racial insult in South Africa. Although it’s [inherited from the American usage](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaapse_Klopse#History) and more specifically applied to Coloured people, not Black people. ---
