I know this is an old post, but “don’t ‘Jew’ me on the price” might actually be misinterpreted as “don’t CHEW me on the price”, without knowing the phrase’s origin. ---

You give small town Arkansans a lot more credit than I do. And even if they didn’t know the origin of that particular phrase, they were still antisemitic as heck, otherwise. I don’t know which would be worse - that it was intentional antisemitism or that they didn’t know and wouldn’t have cared when they found out ---

I can’t even parse “Don’t CHEW me on the price” as being a phrase that means anything. Like hypothesizing that Marie Antoinette said _le theme est quete_, and somebody misheard her. ---

If you shaved Heydrick’s head so that it resembled a light bulb, they would be almost identical. I watched her presser yesterday with my sister who was ripping into her from afar. She was outraged that Leavitt shrugged off our admin basically planning to bomb Iran’s desalination plants. My sister lives close to such a plant and there would be a local shortage without it; those are pretty important even in another country 12000 miles away. ---
