Did you miss the post above where **kaylasdad** explained he didn’t mean impossible when he said “paradoxical,” and that he withdraws his comments about paradoxicality?

Shame on _you_ for misunderstanding the concept of “accountability” in the context of this message board. The worst that could happen is you get taken less seriously by the other posters. Do you want there to be stronger consequences than that? Dream on, bub. Maybe you can pray for your god to smite that person, or something.

You can get\* lots \*of non-puffery, genuine thought and measured response on this board because this board encourages it, not because there’s some penalty for presenting the opposite. Somehow I have my doubts this calling-out of a particular user is going to get you what you claim to want. It’s practically a Pit thread by design.

So did you ask kaylasdad to bet that there wouldn’t be another Republican administration? I would be rather unshocked if he ignored such a proposal.

By the way, I suspect our standing $2 bet regarding Wisconsin abortion law has shifted a little in your favour in light of recent events, but no big deal.

Well, I didn’t vote for him, and I’m not happy he won.

But I’m not prepared to compare it to actual crimes against humanity. Still, that’s an opinion; I won’t quibble. You at least now acknowledge that it could happen.

I propose that if an actual crime against humanity takes place under Trump’s administration, all posters who are now cheering his election have their “member” tags changed to “quisling.”

The problem with that sanction is that it’s applied unevenly. As to a liberal’s preidction that insists some aspect of liberal orthodoxy will happen – and then doesn’t – there is no real danger. No one minds: your heart was in the right place. You can gain the rhetorical benefit of confident prediction during the period of uncertainty, and then a pass.

I seek to correct that.

</div>

The accountability explanation doesn’t wash, because **kaylasdad** is not remotely accountable to **Bricker**.

**Bricker** is not his boss. **kaylasdad** is not in some public position and **Bricker** is not his constituent. They have made no contract, implied or otherwise, that one will do something for the other–thus assigning accountability among equals.

He may want people to be accountable for select predictions, but **Bricker** has no authority by which to demand said accountability. **kaylasdad** is not accountable to him. Only the mods, if they so chose, could make it a requirement.

What’s more, this is just how conversations work. People make incorrect predictions all the time. It is nearly universally regarded as a “jerk move” to then come out and say “I told you so.” The impropriety increases with the level of hurt the person experiences for being wrong. And Trump winning is hurtful to everyone.

All this thread does is serve to make someone who is already hurting feel worse. It’s definitely not going to make people change how they predict things. In fact, I would guess it would have the opposite response.

I sure have no intent of ever going back and apologizing for every single time I turn out to be obviously wrong. If you know I’m wrong, there’s no reason for me to say anything. There is no shame in being wrong, and nothing to apologize for unless what I said was hurtful.

I would have thought that **Bricker** was above things like this. I’m sorry I was wrong.

Hopefully he won’t make a post gloating about how wrong I was.

Your input is noted, but I was looking for someone to second the motion, not just point out the obvious fact that it was written in clear English with clear intent.

**kaylasdad99** is the only poster I can recall who is of the stated belief that a person has to be evil in order to be a Republican in the first place. So it’s not surprising he would find it unacceptable that any of this evil lot should serve as president.

Beyond the points made by Bricker in response, the real point is that these confident predictions keep on coming. People make assertions about what will or won’t happen and when these are upended they forget about it and just move on to new equally confident predictions about what will or won’t happen.

So when an occasion arises that you can show the fallibility of predictions that seemed infallible at the time they were made, there’s some value in pointing that out.
