I’ve been in Newark, the county seat of Licking County, a few times, and even had a job interview there once. ISTR that Thomas Harris once said that Belvedere, Ohio, where the climax (heh) of _The Silence of the Lambs_ was set, was loosely based on Newark. Oddly enough, there is an actual Belvedere, Ohio, but it’s not where Harris sets his fictional town - that description matches Newark.
