The sub sammich is being consumed as I type (well, I type then stop typing to take a bite) and the temperature is still 35F, but tomorrow’s high is due to be 26F, so maybe set a couple taps to dripping to try and avoid freezing pipes. **Bumba** , forgot to say that glad nothing critical was damaged by the treefall, and good luck on the vaccination front. Welcome aboard **teela** and **solo**! **{{{shoe}}}** Certain holidays can have that effect. It was nice of the lady to pay for your breakfast. 🙂 Today is an inclement weather day. I’ve been doing a somewhat zen project in the studio. We got a wintry mix last night and it was a bit slick when I took Nelson out before bed. I awoke to a text from my boss telling me not to come in because the roads are bad. While there are no local stay at home orders, the news did advise doing just that. The happy thing for me today is that, unlike other times in my life, I get paid for weather days and don’t have to worry about how to make up a lost day’s wages. Stay safe and healthy y’all! ---

Morning, everyone! Today is another “got all my shit done by 10am” day. Shopping done, car gassed up, dishes done, everybody fed and skritched, cat fud stacked and pailed, laundry started…now the hard part starts: deciding on what to make for dinner. I have marinated chicken breasts, leftover _carne guisada_ from last night’s dinner with friends, pizza makings, hash makings or takeout. I’m thinking pizza, which would use up the rest of the mushrooms before they go Dixie. **shoe** - Even though we generally ignored it, I was missing Dee something fierce yesterday. We just have to persevere, because they would want us to. Happy Thought For the Day: We have new Mumpers to badger, weasel and maybe even stoat. Welcome aboard! ---

I was just informed by **FCD** that we’re leaving next Tuesday (2/23) for FL because his father has a dental appt on Weds. They get their second shots on Firday and we’ll hang around Sat to make sure they’re both OK. Then home on Sun. Way more time than I want to spend in FL, but such is life. I’ll make use of my time there by helping with big chores - like cleaning their carpets. MIL can no longer see to do such things well, and FIL is physically unable to do much of anything any longer, tho he insists he can. I’ll do what I can to help. Meanwhile, I need to find something to do now - I’ll see what kind of yarn scraps remain. ---

Oh, I’m all about happy today. I love this week’s theme. I had a phone call from Old Flame and one from my sister–both nice chats. I fried an egg for breakfast and didn’t set anything a-smolderin’. And I’m very excited about wading to the grocery store this morning. We got rain yesterday and last night, so the parking lot is mostly water and a little slush. (Still several inches on grass and cars.) Maybe the sidewalks aren’t too icy. It’ll be an adventure! 🙂 A friend in Wyoming sent me a photo of several inches of snow on his fenceposts. Why is that remarkable? Because it’s Wyoming and NEVER stays calm enough for snow to accumulate and stay put. So another happy thought is that I’m out of that perpetual wind. wordy, I remember Jon Krakoeur said in Into Thin Air that after returning home from Everest, it was luxurious to be able to get up in the night and walk to the bathroom in bare feet. Your experience in Peru must have given you a unique appreciation of creature comforts the rest of us often take for granted. **BooFae** , I love that weather app. Congrats on the good news on the bad eye! Are both eyes feeling better then? **Dice** , thanks for the reminder that Ash Wednesday is coming up. That makes tomorrow Fat Tuesday here and Pancake Day in England. What are the “festivities” like there? **WetOne** , I never see Valentine’s Day chocolates for sale until several days afterward. In olden days, docs waited because the lenses get more rigid as they deteriorated, which made removal easier, but now they can remove 'em pretty easily at any stage. While the lenses deteriorate, so does vision, so it makes no sense to me to wait. It’s like a doc saying, “You need glasses, but let’s wait until your vision gets worse than 20/300.” ---

I was left off the name list as well. Hurt my feelings it did. Got over it quickly. Happy news is it’s in the 80’s and I have the air conditioning on. Also a holiday. I’ll take it. I have decided to retire from the job I hate. Crazy I know as I am very well paid and may not have enough time to keep my excellent insurance. Gonna shoot a mail off to HR to inquire. I am looking and have two houses I like. One in Dawson Ga which is way south and the other in Ocala. The one in Ocala is half the size of the one in GA and a bit more expensive but weather. Gotta pay for that here. I can’t sell my current house until it is no longer an A/C shop downstairs. We can rent a building to work out of. I can afford to keep it for a while as it needs some cosmetic work but houses here sell in days at a premium so I need somewhere to go. Once I decide on a place I shall pay cash for it so I only have one house payment. ---

So 300 seats is 6, 301-350 is 7. But … The airline establishes the minimum crew based on both exit count and customer service needs. And once the Feds bless that number, it becomes legally binding. Our 777-200 is equipped with 273 seats, so generically could get by with 6 FAs. The company has said 8, the Feds have blessed 8, and by golly 8 it shall be. Neither to seven nor to nine shalt thou count! 😉 ---

Had a Zoom chat with my cardiologist this morning and he told me that since my adventure in Anaphylaxis land last year, when the ER docs filled me full of epinephrine, my heart has been behaving itself. (My pacemaker records every heartbeat and uploads it to the computers at the device clinic. Better than an EKG it is.) After that I went and had fish tacos with **Wifey** and hung around her orifice a while. Now we’re home and I’m catching up with youse guys while she watches some cooking show on TV. I had cataracts for a few years until my eye doc said they were at the point that my insurance would pay for the operation. At least that’s what I remember. I really didn’t notice much difference, but I was totally ready to be done with contact lenses. Y’all be careful out there, especially you **Mom**. ---

Be careful walking out there **nellie** (and anyone else hoofin’ it on the cold stuff). **magic / nancy** , do they have any of your streets cleaned off yet? I know from the news that M’boro Road and I-24 are a mess. I’ll likely not be headed in tomorrow either. Just think **butters** , should you buy the house in Dawson, you’ll practically be neighbors with **swampy**! 🙂 It topped the sleet / ice off with a little snow here, it’s been, to quote my dad, colder than a witch’s tit in a brass brassiere out there. I haven’t even had to cue Nelson not to dilly dally around when we’re out for his constitutionals. 😮 I am so over winter.
