I say roll everything back. It worked fine before. We’re not really in any danger anyway IMO. The whole terrorism thing is mostly a manufactured crisis. I think OBL shot his wad with 9/11. Nothing else is going to happen. If I end up being wrong. I’ll admit it but I’m confident that I won’t be.

Kerik is yet another intensely political and combative man (who basically said the US was doomed if it elected John Kerry) who’s had some pretty major conflicts of interest and disturbing incidents (many, like his abrupt departure from Iraq, that have yet to be adequately explained). This is the man who was accused of basically turning the department of corrections in NY into Republican campaign, using the time of police officers under his command to help him settle personal cases and scores and promote himself. However, you would have us believe instead that even if Bush nominated some accomplished conservative civil servant, we’d be just as miffed. Well, I wouldn’t. Kerik is a political hack. He’s not what the office needs, and he’s far from the only qualified conservative out there. He is just one of the extremely short list of people that are willing to swear absolute fealty to George Bush and accept Bush’s administration’s increasingly bizarre and deceptive way of operating and dealing with the public.
So I think you are wrong, and that you know you are wrong, but you just find it more comforting to accuse us of base motives instead.
I made that EXACT argument in the GD thread. But you know how it is: Bush does something, anything, so someone is going to open a Pit thread. And that someone is often Reeder. How much you wanna bet that whoever actually gets the HLS spot will be bitched about even more than this guy?
