Khadaji Update

Ye gads, Khadaji
Glad to have you back & prayers for a complete & speedy recovery.

Probably my bad spelling…

My stomach ripped open during dry heaves. This creates a very dangerous position where the stomach contents enter the chest cavity. This has caused 3 abscesses, one of which can’t currently be drained. It is what is keeping me here. The good news is, it is responding well to anti-biotics. They say I might go “home” to my mother’s as early as next Tuesday, with RN coming in every day.

Once that abscess heals, I will be able to starting eating again. But that is at least two weeks away…

Baby steps, but at least there are steps.

I have been released from the hospital to long-term care (my Mom’s with an RN coming in twice a day.) Still have a feeding tube and cannot eat or drink. Am hoping that next week will be a turning point and they will take the tube out. But we will see.

Thanks for all the support.

I hope you recover quickly.
For now, you need to take your pain pills and post frequently to amuse those of us who do not have high end pharmaceuticals at our disposal to enable us for long winded rants and babblefests… oh…wait…that’s me…
Now that you’ve told us how you perfed your stomach, I am really going to worry every time I hurl.

Sounds awful.

Take care.

Eep – keep getting better. Good luck!

 You have no worries. Mine were special circumstances. My tissues were weakened from previous surgeries, from the fact that one of those surgeries had gone bad and the stomach’s sutures had burst (basically creating the same environment as we had this time) and from a recurring hiatal hernia. This is not something that can/should happen to the average adult (IANAD).

When your feeding tube is taken out, what is the one food that you are dying to eat? I know it’s probably something they won’t let you eat right away, but what food do you miss the most?

I hope you have a speedy recovery, I can’t imagine how long this journey has felt to you. Every day just get a teeny bit better.

Continuing prayers and good thoughts heading your way Khadaji. Keep us posted on how you’re doing, ok?

Get well soon, Hon.

I’m glad you’re on the road to recovery, and I hope things continue to go well!

You’re in my prayers, and have my best wishes for a swift recovery.

Quick recovery!

 It changes by the hour. Right now I want some double-stuff oreos with milk!

The feeding tube came undone yesterday and I was off to the emergency room for them to replace it. Not sure what happened, I’ve been pretty careful.

Was a late night, but all is well, except I’m beat today. Was up 'til two.

Thanks for all the support, it still helps!

Good positive and healing thoughts coming your way. It’s been almost 6 weeks since my hip replacement, and I am making progress on a daily basis. Your situation sounds much more complicated, so I really hope you have a good home health nurse and can get some much needed rest. Some day, you’ll get those Oreos!

Oh, my gosh! I don’t know how I missed this thread until today! I certainly did miss you, am glad you’re back and on the mend. Healing prayers going out.

Just wanted to say, what you’re describing is like my worst nightmare (I always say: if there’s one thing worse than throwing up, its dry heaves.) I hope you feel better soon!

Do you need a new hobby? I’m learning to crochet. You do it sitting still but it requires a fair amount of concentration. Plus you can make christmas presents for everyone on your list

Hi guys. Got back from the Dr. He says that I am progressing well - but unfortunately he did not take out my feeding tube. It will likely be in another 3 weeks. I can take some small sips of water and have half a popsicle in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. Other than that, he was very enthusiastic about my progress.

Woohoo, Khadaji. I’m sorry that you couldn’t get the tube out but progress is progress! Be well, my friend.

Good to know you’re making progress!

GT

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still dealing with the tube. I’ll pray for a quick and complete recovery for you
