My last two books of 2016:

I enjoyed Sarah Vowell’s Lafayette in the Somewhat United States, an irreverent retelling of the American Revolution history, with a particular focus on the gallant young marquis (and also covering his much-ballyhooed 1824 visit).

I also reread (and loved all over again) George R.R. Martin’s ecological sf satire Tuf Voyaging, a collection of interrelated short stories. Wish he would finish up with his Game of Thrones books so he could write more about the unpredictable, resourceful, deadpan-snarky Haviland Tuf!
