I’m a street photographer ([gratuitous link to some of my shots](http://imgur.com/a/AZ9L9)) and thankfully the laws regarding taking photography in public are well-defined. As long as I’m not taking photos of somebody where they should expect privacy, then I’m in the clear. I’ve taken pictures of a lot of people and the only time I’ve ever been somewhat bothered about it was by [a Chicago cop](http://i.imgur.com/EdyyfNc.jpg) that didn’t like me taking photos of them questioning somebody on the street. ---

You’re probably being filmed by security cameras at the beach, or at least in the parking lot. Certainly there is a line, which if people cross might make me feel uncomfortable. But you don’t have a right feel comfortable at all times in public. We have laws against stalking and harassment, and I believe the bar should be set relatively high. Taking pictures of someone against their wishes, by itself, shouldn’t trigger it. ---

At a certain point somebody can violate your space while filming you. Right? ---

There are things that are more likely than others, depending on the situation. That doesn’t mean that you need a 100 per cent certainty of something before you react. If you see somebody recording in the beach, the possibility that he’s using that camera for his own vouyeristic purposes exists. We aren’t talking about something incredibly implausible. ---

Again, if you honestly can tell me that you have no sense of personal space, that you wouldn’t mind being recorded in the street, that you cannot understand the mind of somebody who does have that sense, then sure, I could understand your need to mock.
