# Kill off one flavor in Rainbow Sherbert

This is companion thread to eliminate a flavor from Neapolitan ice cream.
I buy a lot of Sherbert in the summer. Usually Rainbow Sherbert or Orange. It’s non-dairy and easier on my digestion.
Rainbow is a mix of Lime, Orange, and Raspberry flavors.
If you **must eliminate** one flavor, which would it be?

I have to agree. Raspberry by itself is not my favorite. I occasionally buy Lime sherbert or Orange.
It is pretty served in a scoop.

That’s a hard decision. I don’t want to eliminate any of them!
But I am glad that you are spelling it as I have always pronounced it - with the extra R. I didn’t realize it was spelled SHERBET until I was in my 30s!

I hadn’t noticed the missing R. I’ve pronounced it Sur-bert my entire life.
So it’s really Sherbet.

Orange and lime are both citrus flavors - lemon would are more sense as a third flavor.
Or blueberry instead of raspberry.

Yeah, this one’s a no-brainer: get rid of the raspberry. With just lime and orange left, you practically have the makings of a virgin frozen margarita. Just add tequila and blend!
Just kidding, don’t do that-- it would probably be terrible and waste good tequila.

Tough one, but I have to say lime.
On their own, I’d much rather eat lime or orange than raspberry, but the mix of citrus and berry are part of what make that combination interesting in the first place.

I like the three Sherbet flavors to mix before eating. It is a interesting combination.
I usually eat the flavors in Neapolitan ice cream separately. I like to finish the bowl before the ice cream melts and mixes the flavors.

Sherbet does have some dairy in it. I voted raspberry off the island.

I feel better. Adding a R in pronunciation must be a regional thing. However you say it or spell, it’s always delicious 😋.

Same here. I’ll spell it “sherbet” now, but pronounce it “sherbert” as I don’t know anyone who doesn’t pronounce it that way around my friends and family. (From Chicago and Buffalo, mostly.)

Lime is my favourite sherbet flavour, so obviously it stays. Raspberry is another favourite, so it stays too. Plus the two work really well together.
On the other hand, the idea of orange sherbet makes me queasy for some reason. Out it goes.

I’d say that, because lime and orange are both citrus flavors, that they’re a bit redundant. Orange has more distinctive flavor, whereas lime is pretty close to just “generic citrus”, so I’d ditch the lime.

I think of orange more as generic citrus myself, but I’d probably ditch lime because it’s a bit too tart and punchy and the gentler and sweeter orange would go better with raspberry.

I once got some rainbow sherbet that had 5 flavors, and one of them was pineapple. Don’t remember the brand, but it was good.
