Reminds me of the farmer who had a problem with the county board or some powers-that-be. He drove his manure spreader into town and gave their building a not-so-fresh coat of sh\*t. I think that would be more satisfying. And plus, he’s still alive. ---

The bad brain chemistry, random potshots, property destruction, unsympathetic zoning officials, and smug concrete company lawyers that destroyed his precious little dream of not having to weld mufflers till he died, aside, you have to think what a warm and triumphant glow of satisfaction must have suffused him when the police bullets bounced of his welded on armor plating. The mechanical execution of his plan worked as intended, until he ran into a shed… _dumbass_. ---

It was an astonishingly well prepared plan and more than astonishingly well devised instrument of destruction. The Post this morning had an article where people were saying he was a man of great passion; you were either his best friend or his worst enemy. I get the impression he was a time bomb just waiting to go off. I’m thankful he didn’t hurt anyone. ---

Had he not high-centered on a concrete barrier dividing a major highway, they probably would have had to call in an A-10 airstrike to stop him. The local authorities were woefully underprepared to stop a tank. ---

One of my uncles lives just outside of Granby. He was in town, at the post office, when the guy started taking shit out, He told my dad that he could hear shots, and was monitoring the whole thing on his volunteer firefighter radio. His wife actually works at the bank that got knocked down. Luckily, she switched to working four ten hour days a week last month, so she wasn’t at work on Friday. According to my uncle, the police discovered that they didn’t have anything in their arsenal that could penetrate the armor on the bulldozer. They were trying to round up any civilians with .50 cal rifles when the guy offed himself. Also, my uncle is pissed, because now he’s going to have to find a new muffler guy, Remind me never to live in a small town surrounded by people who own their own heavy construction equipment. ---

Perhaps one of the gun afficionados here can fill me in on what type of gun that might be exactly, but it was not a machine gun. ---

I think my favorite part of this whole story was the aerial shot of the Granby police climbing on the 'dozer and _poking it with a stick!_ I grew up in a small town and am very pleased to see that some things never change. Don’t know quite what to do? Well, poking it with a stick never hurt, and you never know, it just might work. Priceless ---
