Killing dandelions

Oh, you poor people with your dandelions. Even the name is wussy.
Try Mesquite trees.
A mature tree drops bushels of seed pods, each of which contains a bunch of seeds, each or which will sprout into a thorny, hardy fast-growning little tree. I’ve given up trying to pull them up - I just mow over them and keep them at the height of the grass…

“Lion’s Teeth” is wussy?

And not just growth rate but aesthetics too - the usual gripe comes from those who want to see nothing but a nice, even, unbroken patch of grass, and nothing else. A number of my clients get a Jackie Gleason if they see even one dandelion, and I have to tell/remind them these are inevitabilities that sometimes daily checks can only redress. Then other folks are happy with me weed-whacking down their mostly-shaded back “lawns” that are basically 80/20% dandelions/grass. YMMMV*.

Probably goes without saying a cajillion worse weeds come to mind. (trying to contain aforementioned mesquite tree suckers would be a nuisance, indeed, and I’m glad I don’t have to contend with that.)

*The word “mower” has been inserted in there.

Missed edit window - I confused mesquite suckers for seeds - my bads.

I hope any of the fucking mods don’t notice that.

Yes. When I got rid of the horsetails, I was attacking them every couple of days and pulling off every single bit of top growth I could find. It only succeeded because the area was contained (there was no uncontrolled border where they could come back from)

They’re a coarse weed in lawns, but I personally don’t even like lawns that are a monoculture of grass. Actually, I recently got a bit emotional about the humble daisy

Not talking about a few here and there. If your yard is basically nothing but dandelions, it’s very difficult to find/collect dog poop.

That link doesn’t go anywhere.
