Well, also consider that this world is a temporary place for those who believe. The place is packed with evil, but it’s just a soul gaunlet (band name!). The Believer’s job is to focus on personally abstaining from evil, not to get caught up in it, and especially to not question God’s decisions. We all suffer here. Some will go out from Alzheimer’s, others will be tortured and raped to death before they’re 6 years old. But the afterlife is all that matters. I wish I could believe, I really do.
But I don’t. So I’m right back to “wow, what a sick bastard!”

But I think just the sheer horror or trauma is going to freak you out. It’s all well and good to say, “Run,” but I think even adults might just panic and sit frozen. It’s one of those horrifying scenarios I don’t think anyone ever prepares for.

I started a GD thread about this this morning to see if anyone with any deep knowledge of Chinese culture can shed any possible light on if there’s anything cultural or unique to Chinese society that would tilt someone towards a horrorific action like this.
Or maybe its just four or five isolated incidents of copycatting and coincidental. But four of these attacks have happened in a month. Its very strange and tragic.

To the contrary, guns would be neat and professional, if admittedly unsporting. Knives and cleavers are increddibly messy by comparison, and there’s your tacky right there.
