I went to bed around 5 AM EST I just woke up for the third time about 20 minutes ago and I feel not rested but wrung out. Most of the time I don’t remember much of my dreams but I remember good chunks of this one. It was some typical office conflict or situation I was handling and I was under stress and some person not related to any real individual I know or have ever known comes up and says a few phrases amounting to “You really suck at this. You sucked back then and you suck now” but they were so personal and pointed and mortifying I began hitting him with my fists and beat him to death. I felt him crumple under my blows and no one stopped me as I pummeled him in the busy office. People have (I think) died in my dreams but I rarely, if ever, go after them. It’s always an accident of some kind. I’m usually trying to solve problems and handle situations but in this one I just lost my shit. So that was that… but then I had to get away because I know the police were coming me so that started an endless cat and mouse game with shadowing detectives, so I rented a warehouse to turn into a new office. I bought an ultrasonic washer and hid incriminating evidence inside it and the old YMCA couch, and I kept going out in public without pants while doing all this. And the woman who sold washers knew I was guilty. There was much, much more and by the time I woke up I was mentally exhausted. Don’t beat people to death. It’s tiring on multiple levels. ---

I’ve had dreams similar to this, its amazing how in dreams you could lose your temper and kill someone in a remote cabin miles from civilization, but as soon as they hit the floor cops just start knocking at the door, asking about them. ---

I’ve never beaten anyone to death in my dreams, but I have thrown a couple of people off of high cliffs. Satisfying as it was, I remember dream-thinking, “Oh shit I’m in trouble now.” ETA: I have tried to dream-shoot people but my dream-guns never work. ---

Interesting. My go-to dream method of killing people usually involves blades of some sort. No guilt involved, however, since I’m generally acting to save someone else’s life. If anything, there’s a feeling of exhilaration as I mark another bad guy down. I am \*nothing \*like this in real life. I’ve given up worrying if this means something’s wrong with me mentally. ---

Assuming you don’t have any starving pigs out back, one tip to remember is a hacksaw or circular blade of at least a quarter-inch thickness is best for handling any tricky femurs. And speaking of starving pigs, could the authorities analyze pig shit for human content? ---

I’ve had fighting dreams, but never killing. Sometimes the fighting comes easily to me, while others I’m nearly helpless. It’s always for a defensible reason, though: The other guy either attacked me or someone else, and I was defending myself or them. I did get assassinated in a dream once, though. In my dream, I was getting very politically active about one particular cause, and I guess that I was starting to become a headache to someone, because the dream ended very abruptly with someone putting a dagger through my throat. I don’t know how the dream-assassin ended up hiding the evidence. ---

Many years ago in a very vivid dream I strangled a woman to death. I didn’t mean to kill her; I was only trying to keep her quiet. Very of-mice-and-men-esque, come to think of it. It is by far the most disturbing dream I have ever had. It took me several seconds after waking up to realize it was a dream and not a memory of something I really did. ---

I have a reoccurring dream when I killed someone (usually multiple people) in the past and the police are hot on my trail so I keep having to dig up remains and keep moving the remains. I don’t know who they are or why I killed them but I do know that it happened and I have to avoid being caught. It is terrifying and exhausting although I haven’t been caught so far. Some people also claim that you can’t die in a dream but that is false. I have been “killed” in many of mine through long falls and lots of other things. One of the more memorable ones was the time when my dad threw me a baseball except it wasn’t one at all. It was a hand grenade that went off before I could throw it back. I noticed that, if I go to sleep when I am under a lot of stress, it basically the same as dropping straight into a live-action horror movie. Paging Dr. Freud! ---

Had a couple of times where I was told to kill someone in a dream and refused. My father. Damn I’m sick of his shit. Had a dream about 10 years ago where we were in the house on the farm where I lived from ages 14-23, he pulled his shit on me and I got this ‘inner’ directive that I needed to kill him to be free. I refused. Not the way I operate. Shortly after my separation from my ex-wife. Had a dream where I was given a bicycle and a rifle and sent to kill her. Got about a block or two from her house (in the dream, remember), looked at the rifle and went ‘NO!’ :dubious:, threw it on the ground, turned around to leave and immediately woke up. However, I have killed many people in my dreams, including last night. Found a hidden nuclear warhead (complex and constantly changing dream) and when I tried to get it out of where it was to the person I thought could disarm it, I was beset by a bunch of people who wanted it. Shot the first guy who came at me straight in the chest. He fell, I went to shoot someone else, gun didn’t work. When I looked back at the first guy, he had turned into this little object (I can’t remember what, exactly) on the pavement. ---

I’ve never killed anyone in my dreams, but as a tweener, fifty years ago, I remember a very strange dream in which I was riding a grizzly bear, chasing my sisters through the forest. I don’t think I caught them though. I do remember a very vivid dream in which I was talking with my minister, in his office. We were both seated and suddenly three guys dressed in ninja outfits burst in and shot him to death. I can still recall him tumbling out of the chair. As absurd as the dream was it felt very real, and when I woke up I was freaked out for a while. I was very glad to learn that it didn’t presage his actual demise, in a more mundane fashion.
