Kindle questions

You don’t normally need a computer to set it up, but the only thing is that the Kindle needs to be linked with an Amazon account. They automatically link it with the purchaser’s account unless you told them it was a gift, then I don’t think they do. Mine was linked to my account when I got it, so I’m not sure how the process works.

Thank you for this. I found the link to deregister it from my account and it looks pertty simple to set it up for her. I wouldn’t have thought to do this without your reply

The main reason I didn’t contact Amazon for advice is that I knew that they would tell me that their product is the best in the world. The folks here are honest

I’m going to go to the Cafe thread to tell people how kind and caring Alan Dean Foster is, but I’ll share it here as well. Lolli told me that Mr. Foster was a personal friend and she thought I should send him an email. (some day, I will bitch Lolli out because she never asks for herself, I could have fixed the no email thing a long time ago.)

I emailed Alan Dean Foster and and the next morning I found a kind and gracious reply, thanking me for my praise and then asking about Lolli. I told him that Lolli now has email and will have a reader. I also told him that Lolli isn’t into SF, but asked that he would send her a book anyway. Just to make her smile because she wants people to think about her.

This was his reply: I have the perfect book of mine to send Lolli…PREDATORS I HAVE KNOWN. It came out in March and it’s non-fiction…all about animals. I was wondering how to get her an ecopy…now I know. I just need to know how to get it to her Kindle, since it would be coming from me and not Amazon.

Set up an Amazon account for her using her email address. Go to Managing Your Kindle and register the kindle. Under Personal Document Settings set the Send-To-Kindle Email Setting to her email address. Under Approved Personal Document E-mail List add his email address as well as your own and hers. Now all of you can email books directly to her kindle (if her email address is lolli@gmail.com then her kindle address will be lolli@free.kindle.com).

Did you order her an AC adapter so she can charge the kindle?
