Kings of the disco - ABBA vs the Bee Gees.

You left out You Should be Dancing. Heresy, I say! Heresy!

I liked both, but I enjoy the Bee Gees’ songs more.

My sister got her hands on ABBA’s “Super Trooper” album and played it several times a day for a couple years to the point where I despised ABBA with a burning passion for years and years after. I’m only now beginning to tolerate them again. The Bee Gees, on the other hand, were awesome before disco, during disco, and continued to be awesome long after disco. The Bee Gees win in a landslide.

I always prefered Chic myself.

“One, two, awwwww FREAK OUT!”

I can’t dance, but I just listened to it and the break had even Fat Boy Me imagining my moves. Judges, I would like to reconsider my vote.

Of ABBA, the brunette. And I’m genetically predisposed to blondes.

The Bee Gees were making hits in the late 60s. they have had an incredible longevity. They were huge during Disco, but they were huge before and after it too.

I have never really liked the songwriting from ABBA, nor the arrangements, nor much of anything.

So, my default selection is the Bee Gees, who don’t make me want to turn the radio to another station when one of their songs comes on.

It broke my heart voting for ABBA because I’m a huge BeeGees fan.

I don’t really consider either to be disco except for the “disco phase” of their respective careers so I’ll go for the alternate choice of Chic. Donna Summer is the solo Queen of Disco in my book, even though she, like Bee Gees and ABBA, did non-disco stuff before and after the late seventies.

If the question is which band is my favourite, ABBA, hands down.
