You’re saying inaccurate things about me personally, since I’m a liberal. And most of the liberals I know. Please stop doing this – it’s unkind, discourteous, rude, and untrue. ---

Unfortunately it’s necessary to talk in generalities when talking about people as a group unless one is to get bogged down in an endless array of disclaimers. Plenty of people here talk about conservatives as if they were all of the same mind. ---

However, I prefer the one where conservatives go through life eternally pissed off that, wah, someone is getting something for free that he doesn’t deserve or hasn’t earned, that government is paying too much supporting freeloaders, and worst of all, that people are permitted to have the wrong opposing views that aren’t sufficiently deferential to god, country, the armed forces, and the police. Conservatives are constantly agitating for social change that dehumanizes the “lesser” races and inferior religions, and that leads to fascism. And they all lived happily ever after. Do you know any stories with dragons? I like dragons. ---

If so, then we might as well call you a communist for believing that police, fire protection, and the military should be controlled by government! It’s reasonable to debate these kinds of things without extending them to ridiculous hyperbole like communism (or fascism). The same goes for discussing marginal tax rates – it’s reasonable to debate wither 38%, or 36%, or 32%, or whatever, is the best rate for the top tax bracket. That’s not wanting everyone to have exactly the same amount. And most liberals don’t advocate for any government restrictions on political speech.
