I was pondering this fine piece of rock television detritus the other day (why, oh why, VH1, have you not put it in your “Movies that Rock” rotation?!?) and was trying to remember what each band mambers “KISS talisman” was and what power it bestowed upon them. Little help? ---

Oh God, I haven’t seen that movie since I was 15 or so, back in… what, 1976? I remember it was INCREDIBLY bad. I’m talking “MST3K” bad! Paul Stanley had some kind of laser beam that he could shoot out of his star-covered eye. And Ace was doing a bad imitation of Curley from the 3 Stooges, from start to finish. ---

[1978](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0077788) Truth be told, I don’t remember the talismans, but I do have the slightly hazy recollection of Paul doing that laser beam thingie with his eye, Gene breathing fire, Ace being the “get us out of here” guy with his cosmic hitch-hiking deal, and for the life of me I have no idea what Peter did. But I believe that their “characters” were lifted from the comic book they put out - which rocked; I wish I still had it (with the real blood in the ink and everything). I was deep in the Kiss Army when this came out and this movie just about turned my allegience. Great Sex in a Bottle was it bad. ---

Ahhh… I watched this movie when I was 8 or so. I recall it to be a movie so bad you had to love it. Of course, I was 8, so my judgement may have been off. I took a quick poll of the house, and although phrases like “dumbest movie I’ve ever seen” came up, no one could recall any details. Sorry. ---

Oh, I **love** this movie. It achieves the rarefied status of So Bad It’s Fun to Watch. Trivia: Peter Criss’s voice had to be overdubbed because he was drunk throughout filming, rendering his already thick Noo Yawk accent incomprehensible. Ace Frehley was in even worse shape, being unable to even stand upright (or squawk like a bird) for the afternoon shoots. If you look closely, some of his scenes are played by an African-American stuntman in makeup. ---

An incredibly fun movie to watch while imbibing. Several years ago, I acquired a copy on videotape, and break it out every so often. Some great but pointless quotes: “Your’re looking for something, but it isn’t Kiss.” “Beethoven’s fifth. Hehehehehe.” “Hey, Curly.” “Gene’s twin brother was an only child.” “Rip, rip, rip and destroy.” As for the original question, let me go get my copy and I’ll see what Peter’s supposed power was. ---

Well, after viewing the film in fast-forward mode… It doesn’t appear that he has any power, but his talisman is, of course, a cat. Oh, and I forgot the best quote of all: “No gratitude need be voiced. Your mind speaks to us.” ---
