Sheesh, I’m sitting here actually crying, with tears in my eyes, and I’m happy! What a wonderful, joyful ending, I love them!

You might want to take the kitty to the vet, for a checkup, just to be sure the baby didn’t pick up any nasties.

Hooray!!!

I’m so happy - just saw this thread and I’m happy happy that you’re all back together again

(Money says Theo will keep his furry ass at home from now on!)

Congratulations! Great to hear that the little wanderer is safely back home.

RESULT!!!

Hugs!!!

Everyone. I also have tears down my face rereading everything everyone wrote. We tend to forget a few things: there is good in the world. If you’re in the dark, and a bit scared, if you reach out your hand you can touch it sometimes. Another is that those little things all add up to one great big good thing. They don’t seem like much by themselves, but together they make up a life.

This morning, when David was awake, I asked him for more details. He came home by himself while I went off to The Greek Theater in Berkeley for the concert. He turned off his phone after I’d called for the 5th time to see how he was doing, and was so upset that he just lay in bed reading. My sister went out after 10:30pm to look for Theodore, and saw him. Of course, he took off running, and there ensued a ninety-minute chase, through the alleyways. He heard the door open later, and thought it was me, but instead heard that unmistakeable meow.
“We are taking your sister wherever she wants to, for the nicest dinner she’ll ever have,” David said, eyes levelled at me.

You’ll get no argument here!

Next week, in addition to a full workup, the Vet is installing a microchip. If you’ve never heard about it, you can now have a microchip the size of a grain of rice inserted under the skin of your pet. It won’t hurt, and nobody knows it’s there. If your pet is discovered by the Humane Society or another pet rescue organization and the chip clicks when they wave the reader wand, the animal won’t be euthanized. I know someone who’s dog was lost in Pacifica, but was found in San Jose, and traced back by the information on the chip.

Yay!! That’s great!

Our cat Shiva disappeared for a month and a half. She had always been of the indoor/outdoor variety, until she brought home a tick. It was really tricky to leave the house sometimes.

When my husband and I were on our honeymoon she escaped when my mother came by to feed the clan. Shiva hightailed it out the door. My mother didn’t even notice she was gone at first and didn’t tell us figuring she would come back soon.

We returned from our trip and there was no sign of Shiva. I made posters and we put them up all over the place. Nothing. My husband thought the worse, but I continued to tell him that she would be back and some how I knew she would. She was extremely friendly and I figured someone took her in and it would only be a matter of time before she escaped again.

About 6:00 one morning we were sound asleep when I heard a loud meow at the bedroom window. My husband jumped up and cried, “Shiva, is that you?” "MEEEEOOOOWWW-brrrrrrp” I jumped out of bed and ran to the window and told her to go around to the front door, while my husband ran to the front of the house to open the door for her.

She was gone for exactly 45 days a little skinny, but otherwise unharmed. We still wonder where she went.

I read this thread without breathing until the post about Theodore coming back. Thank heavens he’s safe and sound.

KobaltBlu, did you ever teach Photoshop up in SF through HMI? If so, I took one of your excellent classes.

I’m SOOO glad this worked out for you! From the opposite side of this… I was outside at work, with a couple of friends, having a smoke, two years ago or so. I look up, and make eye contact with this little kitten, VERY young! He walks straight toward me, and I pick him up. I take him home and give him some food and milk. I ride around the neighborhood to see if anybody has lost him. Also put an ad in the local newspaper. Nothing!

Anyways, we end up keeping the little fella (along with our other 9 cats…) I go home at lunchtime, for many days, and let him walk all over my chest/table. Quality time! To make a long story short, “Smokey” now thinks I am his “Mommy.” I am SSOOOO glad I found him, and (in OUR house) he could not have found a better home.

<< doing the night-time kitty-cat crazy dance >>

Great news! We are owned by three - and probably another one coming next week. Anyone have a good name for a grey female 4 month old kitten? Hmm, “Smokey”…

Hmmm, he is (mostly) gray, and I smoke like a chimney. Seemed like a reasonable name…

What wonderful news. Please give Theodore a squishy hug from me and tell him to never do that again.

I love happy endings. Congratulations!

Glad the cat made it back. Consider the low-tech solution of a collar and tag as well as the chip.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t the one who taught classes, although I do pretty well with PhotoShop as a Graphic Artist.
What’s HMI?

Well, David gave him the wrong name. He should’ve been called Houdini, because getting and keeping a collar on him is quite a chore. But I’m going to go ahead and get one, and David and Theodore can just deal with it!
