Komen Foundation Bullying Mom & Pop Charities over "For the Cure" and the color pink

You may “Saunter [to the Pub] in Search of the Cure”, but you may not “Race [to the Pub] for the Cure”. See the difference? Oh, and you should probably avoid wearing pink while sauntering, just in case any lawyers might be present.

Actually, since I was making a general statement, a single exception is just that: a single exception to a general statement. I’m not a frothing feminazi separatist. I came ‘of age’ as both a feminist and a student of science in the early 90s though, in many classes with pre-Med students (I was pre-vet at the time) and I remember discussing things like the 1993 policy to adjust for the (arguably benevolently intended) exclusion of women ‘of child-bearing age’ from clinical trials that I believe harked back to 1977ish. Yes, women were still included, and there are some who feel they were included in such a way that the science did not suffer. I am highly skeptical that science did not suffer, and does not still suffer from some gender-bias issues. As I said, I think we’re still climbing that hill. Progress is definitely being made, but there is more to do.

Googling for things like “Gender Bias in Medicine” you can see that it is a topic with the typical swirl of perspectives, just like everything many other things. And yes, there do appear to be papers that support my general statement, but I can’t read or link to any that I’ve found without joining super sekret academia clubs.
