Korean-speaking Dopers - why are these kids feigning death?

These ones, I mean.

Is there any sort of political significance, or are they just having fun?

Well, the thread title says (basically) “Playing Corpse, total” (“total” as in, ‘these are all the pictures of us playing corpse’).

The last picture shows a ‘corpse’ with the word shi-che (corpse) written on his forehead in Korean…

As far as I can tell, there is no political significance. I summoned my resident Korean expert (Astrogirl) over to get her take on it, and her comment was “Chemi-so!” (‘Interesting!’). She then shrugged and went back to what she was doing…

I’m gonna shrug, too. It doesn’t seem to be political, though…

I figured as much, but wondered if I might be missing something. Thanks.

(Some of those kids have a great sense of composition. I love the pictures with the shelves.)

Creepy. And a little nauseating.

If I had North Korea on my border, I might be just a little obsessed with death too…

Reminds me of playing “Playing Dead” with my sister when we were kids – the object being to do anything short of tickling to make the “corpse” giggle.

Very, very disturbing images, IMHO. Odd!!

Was that anything like the game “Graveyard” where everyone had to close there eyes and lie still and one person would go around trying to provoke the other players into moving or making a sound, which got you out of the game. A common ruse was to tell a person that the game was over and he or she had won. As camp counselors, we especially liked getting the kids to do this game for the quiet value.

Man, those dead Korean chicks are hot.
